donsturdy
Can anyone give me any explanation and possible fix for Fret Buzz on the following strings: -Low E string-major buzz whether playing soft of hard with and without fretting. -A string only when fretting. Soft or hard playing no difference. -G string when fretting to a lesser extent than the other 2 strings. Any suggestions or fixes would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance for reading and hopefully replying.[/size]
gearhead
First you need to check the neck to see if the truss rod needs adjusted. Hold your E string down at the first and last frets. Should have about .015" (1/64") of clearance over the middle of the neck (about the thickness of a credit card). If it's touching the frets then the truss rod needs adjusted. If it's buzzing only on certain frets then you need to take a ruler and lay across the buzzing fret and see if it is higher than the surrounding frets. Also, are you tuned to standard 440 or tuned lower? It makes a difference on how much tension is exerted on the neck.
