PrairieSchooner
I owned an early 1970's Mastertone 5-string. I know the Gibson banjos of that era are not particularly highly thought of, but I loved mine. Stupidly, in a period of particularly hard times, I sold it (what John Hartford said is true: a banjo will get you through times of no money, but money won't get you through times of no banjo). If there are any German banjo players on this forum with a nice 35 year-old RB-250 with the factory offset tuners replaced with Schallers, it could be mine. Anyway, I've been thinking about replacing it. Any ideas on what an excellent condition banjo from that era might sell for these days? Thanks... PrairieSchooner
In answer to my own question, $1750.00. At lease that's what I just paid for the '77 I found . Shipped, w/hard case, a clip on tuner, leather strap (which I actually might keep) 2 sets of strings, assorted picks and several years' worth of gunk & crud!
