PickitPaul
I have a J45 that has the Keystone Gibson Deluxe closed back individual tuners. I would like to change to an open back button tuner like these are supposed to have, more of a vintage style. Are there any drop in tuners where they have the same footprint, and post hole diameter? would these fit http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guitar,_solid_peghead_tuners/Golden_Age_Restoration_Tuners_for_Solid_Peghead_Guitar_with_Scallop-end_3L_3R_Baseplates.html?tab=Specs
L5Larry
The StewMac site gives very good detailed dimensions, only you can determine if those specifications match what you have on your guitar. Since there is really no way to figure out who was the manufacturer of your "Gibson Deluxe" tuners (so no way to check their engineering drawings), you'll have to just measure up what you've got. A digital caliper or micrometer will tell you everything you need to know (a caliper is probably better for this operation). Look at it as NEW TOOL DAY (second only to new guitar day in my house). zombywoof
Are you looking for screw or rivet tuners? If screw tuners Stew Mac does make a nice set of repro Kluson bent tab tuners at a very reasonable price. Antique Acoustics also makes a dandy set of open gear strip tuners but you will have to dig a little deeper in your pocket.
onewilyfool
Last time I changed the tuners on one of my guitars...I called up Stewmac, and the sales man had a lot of info on which ones would swap with which ones...may be worth a call....
