fretplay
Does any member understand this You Tube shared endorsements thing. I guess its to do with your You Tube page. What are the advantages and disadvantages? I can't understand it. Help!!!
Guest Farnsbarns
It simply means that if you endorse, rate, share, +1 something then google / YouTube can automaticly show that endorsement, along with your profile, in ads for the entity you endorsed. I don't quite understand your question as to whether there are advantages? The pros and cons for advertisers, audience and endorsers could be argued all day. For most people there is simply no impact at all. My only piece of advice, always assume anything you put up online could come and bite you at any time. Always consider that when posting anything on line.

I never put anything negative on the net, not because it might bite me but because I wouldn't like it done to me.
Notes_Norton
What I don't like about this is what I inferred from reading the synopsis. If you "like" something google can then show your picture to your friends with your endorsement. I don't particularly like that. If I endorse a product to my friends, I want to do it in person where they can ask questions and I can give details about my endorsement. That way I can tell them why I liked the product, what use I like the product for and if there is something I don't care for about the product I can include that. For example. During the rainy season I like to put a product on my windshield to make the rain bead up. But during the love bug season, it makes the love bugs harder to clean off the windshield. I guess it must be an oil based product so the water in the rain beads up, but the oily love bug innards actually stick to it. If I were to tell a friend about that, I would caution about use in the love bug season. But if I just clicked a "like" on the product and a friend uses it during love bug season, he/she might not think I have the best judgement in windshield products. Guest Farnsbarns
If you don't want your opinions on anything being in the public drain, to be quoted, cited and collated by anyone who sees fit, don't put them on the internet. You may not like it but that has always been the reality. Don't forget, all the functionality you enjoy for free on line is not really free, this is trade off. I always say, if you are using a free service on the internet, you are not the customer, you are the product.
