SgLpEs
I have an LP Classic and the treble pickup, for lack of a better word, sucks. The rythym pickup is a lot louder and sings, but it could be louder. The treble kills it though! I seriously cannot push an amp at all, with an LP! I was thinking of putting a 57 Classic nickel cover in the neck and a Burstbucker 3 zebra in the bridge, any suggestions?
Zaphod B
That 500T bridge pickup should be a lot hotter than the 496R neck pickup. If it sounds horrible and is quieter than the neck pickup then you have a problem somewhere. If you are the first owner it should be a warranty fix. Either way you need a visit to a repair shop if you can't troubleshoot it.
SgLpEs
If it is just a wiring problem, and I've had some of those before, how much would it cost to get it fixed? Also, If I wanted to go for a more vintage tone, and just get new pickups anyway, what do you guys recommend.
Zaphod B
If it's just a wiring problem then it'll likely cost one hour of shop labor, whatever the going rate is in your neighborhood. If you do want a more vintage tone, I would recommend the 57 Classic / 57 Classic Plus combination. My LP Classic Antique has this set and it has great tone, while still being ballsy enough to push a tube amp very convincingly.

FennRx
Classic 57s or BB Pros. Both are good vintage sounding PUs.
Thundergod
i believe the classic pickups are supposed to be hotter than the burstbucker pros on my faded, arent they? and my faded kicks *** man... maybe you got a pipckup problem... have you chcked if your pickups are to low? it could be that... some time ago in the old forum someone had the opposite problem... his guitar was giving him cheap overdrive like tones all the time even with clean amp settings, just with the neck pickup. Turned out his neck pickup was to high...
Zaphod B
Do you think you could post some pics so the guitar in the LP Pic thread? :D I'll do it later from home, if I can find a spare 15 minutes.
esch
Classic 57s or BB Pros. Both are good vintage sounding PUs. I concur on the BB Pros. Sort of a vintage sound but with some more bite.
Zaphod B
The 57 Classic set is just slightly hotter than the BB Pro set.

CajunBlues
Try raising the bridge (treble) pickup closer to the strings. Of the hundreds of Gibson pickups I have worked with, I have not seen one that had output "issues".
Plank_Spanker
Could also be a bad / dirty pickup selector switch, bad / dirty volume pot. 500T's are smokin' pickups, and pickups rarely go bad. Try cleaning your electronics before you elect surgery.
marvelboy_04
sounds like you may just need to raise your pickup.
Plank_Spanker
sounds like you may just need to raise your pickup. Even adjusted flush with the ring, a 500T should still raise hell. The OP's post reads to me like he's hardly getting any output from it.
NeoConMan
500T is indeed hot as hell. I pulled the ceramics out of my Classic and went with BB Pro's 5 years ago. I wish I had gone with the 57's like my 335 has. I wanted something different, and I was wrong. After hearing the 57's in so many different guitars (my SG 61 included) I'm a believer. What cinched it was Silverbursted buying his new Traditional with the 57/57 Plus combo. I was there for the test drive, and I would have to say that's the PERFECT Les Paul tone. Maybe Billy Gibbons Pearly Gates has better tone, but I ain't so sure about that....... BB Pro is great, but I think the slighly higher output of a 57 Plus in the bridge is dead on. rjay777
Yep, the 500 should be burning a hole in your speaker. Get it checked though. I thought about swapping mine for 57's but the 496/500's grew on me, and I loooove the tones I get from those ceramic beasts. P'ups are important for your overall sound, but imo, I don't lose any sleep over them.
daveinspain
The pups that come in the classic are the hottest pups Gibson makes.... There is a chart on the Gibson site that graphs out all the pick ups and their volume and the 500 and 496 are leading the pack... Get your guitar looked at before you do any swapping.
