That ws cool! As long as it had no case to idle in might as well slap on a slide and record, eh? Can't use a slide to save my life, what's the secret?

That's a sweet sound. Love that Gibson guitar. It's kind of got that "street corner" sound to it. You and that guitar are a good match. Makes me want to start playing the two blues songs I've written, but no way I can get the blues going like you do. Sweet sound. [thumbup]

Wow!

While I was sleeping, everyone was wearing this track out!

(Sort of).

Thanks for the replies and encouragement!

The guitar IS a ripper and it cost a third of the price of one with the logo intact. I am trying in my amateur recordist way to capture it as best I can, but I am not getting the 'roundness' of the sound or of course, the smell of the old wood and something I just worked out - because there are no shiny bits left, the guitar is warm and cozy!

So yes, Mr Del, the tune was a bit rushed, but it probably reflects the hurry I felt to get it down on a track - not making excuses - this is what happens: "Boooonggg" Derr! I think I might record that one? Naaa? Errr... Yeahhh! Oh! What about...? Nahhh! Go, go , go...Na? Should I?..........Guitar on to stand; switch all the business stuff on; swing the mic around to the guitar and the other to the face; turn the mixer on; get levels; turn on iMac Garageband; check signal, have to Save a file first on the Imac; Name?; set up file track; delete rotten keyboard track that keeps coming up; select vocal track; Test! Test! ...have a run through; "What was I doing?.....Go! Go! Go!..........................>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Save? Why not? I can do it again later......etc, etc fun,eh??

Sorry Dan, but the question about getting some slide going is a long, tricky, slippery one that can sound like your parents...........Get in that room and practice! First you need a guitar, then a slide that fits your finger properly and comfortably, and some form of top lesson would be an enormous help, and the rest is gravy!

You were doing a lot of different things in there so it was hard to keep the tempo even but there were some rollicking good moments where you found your place, your center in there and syncopated with the best of them. How bout slowing it way down and seriously subdividing tempo and melody and then in the middle jump to the tempo you had here as double time? That could be nasty.

Thanks Jerry!

I will need to think on it for a while.... I used to do just that in a version of 'Baby Please Don't Go' many moons ago, live, and it did go killer, sometimes....

Thanks Retro!

Really appreciate the reply.

And not meaning to put the potential slide/bottleneck players off the game, more pie for me, but I have to quote a line from author Tim Winton that I just thought hysterical and I laugh thinking of it, but slide playing can be a bit like: quote: "The bloke in Queensland who broke the world record by breaking 47 watermelons on his head". Now that is a talent!
