metalpaul
definitely looks like a goddess prototype. same body and controls, just a finish they probably decided not to go with.
cap
Hey, I just wanted to ask about that Goddess, I've been trying to find one for sometime now as I think that they are killing off the line (at least some of the colors). I just have to ask, would you ever wanna sell that guitar? It's absolutely beautiful, and I have been looking for a non-ice burst, non-sky burst, non-rose burst for a few weeks. I have fallen in love with your guitar. thanks
LPDEN
Do I recall correctly that when the SG Silverburst came out a few years back they went like hot cakes at a Sunday morning feast?

Ian Martin
If Gibson was claims they're a "unisex" guitar, then why call them "Goddess"? Whatever Gibson, you're just trying to appeal to a small, untapped demographic of guitar players. I like the colors they come in (the blue is to die for), but I would never play a guitar called a "Goddess." I knew a guy who played Daisy Rock guitars on stage. I mean, I know a good guitar is a good guitar, but have some self-respect for yourself at least. The most disturbing aspect of them for me was that when they were released they were the same price as SG Standards, but you get a shitty bridge and half the knobs. WTF? Half the people around here refer to their guitars as a 'she' anyways, what's the difference? You're a fool.

You're a fool.[/quote'] Oh piss off, I suppose you're one of those wankers who says "it takes a real man who's secure in his sexuality to wear a pink shirt." It's my own personal choice of what the hell kind of guitar I want to play, I do not choose to play Ibanez guitars, I find them fugly and worthless in my style as a guitarist and in my image. I do not play Goddesses because I find them to be sub-par guitars in terms of features that I utilize as a guitarist. And yeah, the the name doesn't appeal to me. It's a girly name, is it not? For the same reason, I do not like the "Menace" series, and I'm thinking they're targeted torwards a certain audience as well (like, uh, guys?). Do you think they made the finishes purple and pink to appeal to the vast majority of men who like these colors? I know SO many guy guitarists who have been begging for a pink SG ever since the Hello Kitty Stratocaster came out a while ago. Gimme a break. You know damn well they're targeted towards girls in appearance and name. If you're a guy though and you really like it, fine, I'm not gonna stop you from playing one. It's your own personal preference. They're not my cup of tea, I flat out just don't like them (however as I stated previously, I DO like the blue finish and the silverburst one in this thread is hella cool). They may be your cup of tea, and if so, GO FOR IT. I'm not going to insult you or anyone else for playing them even though I think they're lame. So why the hell are you picking on me for not liking them? I'm not attacking anyone, merely stating my opinion. Grow up.
Tim Plains
I think Gibson went with the name Goddess because the body is slimmer. It is with LPs, anyways....like the slim body of a beautiful goddess. And yes, probably to appeal to women players. I'm not saying they're girl guitars, but women do have smaller frames (you'd hope) and may find it difficult to play a regular Gibson. ...I'm in love! jenciv
Yikes...Bringing it down a notch again... I am a female and I have a Rose Burst Goddess. Aside from the fact of the colors and the name, the Goddess has a lighter body that is actually lighter than a 61 SG reissue (another I had looked at previously) the neck is thinner than a 61 RI too. The humbuckers IMHO are a bit lame (cool looking in transparent with colored bands in it) but I would have liked the 57 humbuckers too that the 61 RI has. As far as the look and feel to it it is almost as light as a SG junior but I think that is still lighter by far (The Junior) They did appeal to female players when coming up with the design to the Goddess. I am a petite chickie with small hands so I was very grateful to have one :) I have seen some guys play the blue and silver ones and they enjoy the guitar. I haven't delved into their psyche to find how "masculine" they feel about playing it that's a whole other ball of wax I may not want to know! LOL The Silver one in this picture has different pickups though. The off the line model had a transparent set of Alnico's with dark grey threading around them and clear plastic framing. Maybe they were upgraded? Either way it is a sweet guitar and I would trade my Rose Burst for that anyday! Rock on!
jenciv
oh...and the truss rod cover in the pic isn't like the production models. They said "Goddess" instead of SG.
GuitarJunkie
I know SO many guy guitarists who have been begging for a pink SG ever since the Hello Kitty Stratocaster came out a while ago. Hey, I actually own the pink Hello Kitty Strat! Of course I have a young daughter and a wife that's starting to pick up guitar (makes for a great excuse to buy another instrument). Problem is, when we were expecting our son this past winter, I got the black Hello Kitty Strat for Christmas. Can't pin that one on the ladies. I would love to have one to play for a song or two at shows sometimes. Y'know, just for a laugh. It does make me think about getting a custom-shaped pickguard of my band's logo (a robot head) on a guitar though.
GuitarJunkie
I brought the pink one to rehearsal one week, and our singer thought it was the funniest thing ever. When I told her I was getting the black one too, she insisted that the other guitarist and myself use them for at least one song. I'm thinking "Detroit Rock City" or another fairly heavy song. AussieSG
I'm looking to buy a used SG goddess online. Can anyone tell me if they are neck heavy to the point the head falls down when you are not holding it? I have a reissue SG and love the thin neck, and it doesn't fall down. But I have an epiphone korina SG as my current backup and it does fall down as soon as you let go of the neck. The epi is lighter than the gibson, so I'm worried the goddess will do the same, but I can't find a store round here that has one in stock for me to test out. Any help would be great. I can't stand playing the Korina SG and would hate to spend a bit more to upgrade and have the same problem. Thanks.
