Mgrande324
I have a knob that comes out real easy my question is. Is the litle piece that you connect the knob to suppose to come out of the pot or is it suppose to be soldered in there. Ever since this happened my guitar doesn't work anymore and is there a quick fix for this or do I need to pick up a new pot
crust
It sounds like the pot is shot, I'd bring it to the guitar fixing place and get all the electronics looked over. You could try spraying some contact cleaner on it, but nothing should be loose, or "come apart". Post a picture. I've seen a few Invaders at the pawn shops here, but never got one. They look like a LP Jr. . Sorry to hear about your guitar, Invaders are "cheap" Epiphones. With upgrades they are most likely, a fine guitar. Don't be a stranger here. The more you participate, the more you will learn.
Mgrande324
oh ok thanks ive got some pictures of them ill post links to them below http://imageshack.us/content_round.php?page=done&l=img692/4834/ujbi.jpg&sa=0 http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/6467/zcxa.jpg and this is the knob and the shaft that is completely out of the pot http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/1259/h05q.jpg and i was wondering if anyone knew why this invader has GIBSON on it and not the Epiphone symbol http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/5098/nj3m.jpg and from what ive seen its pretty much the same as the les paul junior but i cant find any real info on the web about the invader
Bender 4 Life
welcome to the forum Mgrande !! yep, your pot is shot, need a new one. the Gibson TRC was used for several years on many different models of Epis.....seems maybe from the late '80s/early '90s thru at least '04 as my '04 G400 Deluxe has it. crust
I had an Epiphone LP Special II (another Epiphone "low end" Les Paul, bolt neck construction electric guitar). No "Special II" or "Les Paul model" decal, pure Gibson...lol Says "Gibson"....must be a Gibson...lol
crust
I believe Epiphone "Invader" electric guitars are in the European market, and sold as a "starter package" deal...guitar, small amp, cord, picks, strap, gig bag...a "package deal". crust
there is a "package deal" on ebay right now...$80.00 ($120.00 with shipping), what more do you need ? It would probably cost as much, if not more to have your Invader repaired. unless you do it yourself http://www.ebay.com/itm/EPIPHONE-INVADER-GUITAR-AMP-CORD-CASE-SHOULDER-STRAP-/151092646616?_trksid=p2054897.l4276
Mgrande324
what would be the best pot to buy to replace it?
vomer
Welcome Mgrande. 3552 x 2000 pixels?! I sat and waited as it scrolled open... took me back to the days of dial-up connections and AOL- timed out at the shoulders , but yes, that pot is dead, and as the guitar sound is dead also, I'm guessing that it's the volume pot. If you want to keep the same knob you'll need an 'import' or 'Asian' pot. These have 'coarse' splines. Alpha brand are OK. If you went for the more expensive USA pot like CTS brand, they have fine splines which don't fit your knobs. For a volume pot, you should have a 500K 'Linear Taper', which gives more useable adjustment all through the pot's range of travel, though some folk like 'Audio Taper' as it concentrates the majority of the volume change at one end of the pot's travel. But a quick search shows Allparts UK don't do Alpha, and WDMusic UK only have audio taper. YMMV. BUt it will only set you back £1.54 + postage so if you don't like it you can always try another. And when you have your pot, it's a simple job to unsolder the old one and solder in the new. There are some tips to soldering pots though if you haven't before, so let us know if you do it yourself.
