JamGuy
I've been experimenting with some "Space > ..." Jams... this one rolls into The Other One. If you don't like the Dead I'll be surprised if you like it but who knows. I tried another one this morning that leads into Uncle John's Band but I think I like this one better. Cheers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3QA44ovcL8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=os8Q4hBYfkw

68blues
I've got two 'dead' albums, Live Dead and American Beauty.Went through a bit of an Americana phase last year. also bought Buffalo Springfield. Neil Youngs Psychadelic Pill is a fine guitar album. Sorry got a bit carried away there. The answer is yes I've got two.
Aster1
Absolutely. Love the old stuff up to about after the Wake of the Flood. Will say I love "A touch of Gray" for a song from what would be new stuff. That doesn't mean I like every song they played. Don't like every song that ANYONE played though. If I like more that not, then they were in my top 10 list. Aster
saturn
I've never been a Dead Head, or owned any albums, but I've usually liked most of what I hear from them. Recently I saw Bob Weir and Rat Dog play at the Peach Festival. I really enjoyed them although I only recognized a few cover tunes they played. One song I really thought they did great, I have since learned was called "October Queen". It took me some digging to find out the title, and I still haven't come across a version that I think is as good as the one they played at Peach Fest. Aster1
I saw the Dead about 13 times back in the late 80's to early 90's, saw Jerry once. I just recently listened to them for the first time in about a year or so and I was not as into the music as I used to be. That can hold true with lots of stuff can't it? I will say American Beauty and thru the 70's I really still enjoy their music still. I use to love the Beatles music (all of it) but not as much after Sgt. Pepper days & even love more Revolver & earlier the best now. Aster
Karloff
I really love the late 60's Dead, when Pig was still healthy and Garcia played a Les Paul and or SG. His playing had more fire then. especially with Pigpens tunes. The crystalline noodling that later developed began to lose me. Also I just got bored with them. When you know what a band is capable of, and you hear them just half heartedly going through the motions, its a turn off.
surfpup
I'm a fan of the more country GD... basically Workingman's Dead and American Beauty albums. I have a great live show from about the same time that I enjoy as well. I can live with a lot of the other stuff - and listen to What a Long Strange Trip It's Been occasionally but some of their stuff can get too noodly. That makes decent background music but it's not as engaging as the more song oriented stuff on the two albums I mentioned above.
