What is this guitar?

Yes, well -- as the description says, that's a "J-200 Elite". It is a 'semi-Custom Shop' model, if I may put it that way, having usually been constructed on the regular production line at Bozeman, but using build specs that differ from the "standard" SJ-200 model.

Differences:

Ebony rather than Rosewood for bridge and for fingerboard

Abalone for crown inlay on headstock, inlays on fingerboard, and the bridge (--> MoP for Logo is same as on standard SJ-200s)

Abalone rosette

Abalone dots on pickguard

Different pickguard -- no border, smaller footprint

Gold Grover Imperial tuners

Other than that, the woods are sometimes highgraded, but not always, AFAICT, and they are Sitka over figured maple, with a maple neck, so that part of the design is the same as a standard SJ-200.

I like this variant of the SJ-200.

The one shown in the photo above is finished in the light cherryburst finish that was seen on J-200 Elite models in 2007 and 2008.

At the time, the upgrade to purchase an Elite was around a few hundred dollars more than a standard SJ-200. So if the standard had a street price of say $2500, the Elite might've been selling at about $2800 (ish). That of course depends on the dealerspeak.

If, now, a standard used good condition SJ-200 sells for around $2000 - 2300, then the Elite would be ..... (you do the math).
