elantric Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 From the Robot Manual: SHORT CIRCUIT WARNING In the event of a short circuit from negative to ground (Strings E or A to D or G) the white peg symbol will flash. This can be caused if strings are not trimmed properly at the headstock. If the short circuit runs from B or hi E to D, A or low E, the peg will flash yellow. Check to make sure no strings touch one another. Reading the above - I see I may have problems with my dream of using the Dark Fire to play slide guitar! Time to hunt for my old Coricidin bottle
Guitar slinger Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Well, while bendig the strings hard you can get to touch them too. And there are other several techniques that cause them to touch each other. Metal plectrums, playing with a coin... But I think (well, I hope) that it only applies for when the guitar is in the "tuning mode"? - sorry, I don't own neither robot, nor DF, but I htink there is this kind of mode, right??
elantric Posted December 26, 2008 Author Posted December 26, 2008 I think you are right. - just remove metal slide during retuning operations should be OK.
Guitar slinger Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 I just remembered that the human body is a conductor of some degree, so you might avoid touching the strings AT ALL while in tuning operation.
