saturn
Probably my favorite of the holiday pop tunes. Not only did Brenda Lee have one of the greatest voices ever, but I love those authentic retro tube-driven guitar fills. post em' up!

saturn
Brenda (Mae Tarpley) Lee was only 15 or 16 when she recorded this......but began singing professionally at age 10. wonderful voice !! Mrs.B. recognized it instantly....... Wow. I knew she was singing professionally at a very young age, but didn't realize she was so young when that song was recorded. I am kind of a traditionalist when it comes to holiday songs. This one was probably considered New Wave in the 80s, now it seems traditional to me. milod
I've posted this in the past but here we go again... Torme wrote this when he was 19 - not exactly "rock," but another underlining that one need not be an antique to write classics. A good friend, now long gone, was a classmate of Torme. m
surfpup
I love Christmas, but not Christmas music. Kinda strange I guess. However, here's my take on the one Christmas song I do like. I have to relearn it every year because I forget it over the next 11 months!
milod
I always get a kick outa that one 'cuz, as I recall, the first mention of it was hundreds of years ago to the effect of "a dirty ditty from the north humberland." ... not to mention the reason the sleeves were green. Ah, but what happened to one when he was a folkie in the olden days. <grin> Great tune, though. m
