SkateMusicLife64 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Hey guys, I was at Guitar Center playing all of the guitars that I know I never will be able to afford (I do that for fun) and I came upon a Les Paul Classic Custom in Antique White. It is very beautiful. It has the same binding on the headstock and an ebony fretboard. How does the Classic Custom compare to a Les Paul Standard? Would it make sense for me to sell my Standard to buy this? How rare is it to find one of these new? Thanks in advance. BTW, here is what it looks like. http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/regular/3/4/4/537344.jpg
Thundergod Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Sorry dont like it... what finish is your standard? If you like the classic custom more than your standard then it should be a good thing to do but if you ask me I wouldnt do it. Maybe when you get her you will find out she doesnt bond to you like your standard...
SkateMusicLife64 Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 My standard's finish is Desert Burst. The reason I was thinking of selling my standard for this is because although i like the look of Les Paul Customs, I like a 60's style neck. This has all of the benefits of a custom (Tuners, headstock binding, ebony fretboard) plus it has the 60's style neck I like and it is the weight of a standard. I figured that I should buy this while I can because it is discontinued and rare, because I can buy a standard anytime.
BIGBENDS Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Skate, your guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Standard? If so, don't ever sell it (unless you're starving). I don't mind the Classic Custom in Antique White or black, but you have a great guitar already (if it's a Gibson). Play her, appreciate her, and keep learning.
SkateMusicLife64 Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Thanks. And on an unrelated topic, does a Les Paul with a Bigsby fit in an ordinary Les Paul case?
nikko18 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 i have been wondering this to. my bigsby will be here in the mail soon and i dont know what i'm going to do if my guitar no longer fits in its case. oh and about your classic custom i would say go ahead and get it if the neck feels better to you. i like standards as much as the next guy, but if im right the classic custom is a maple top with an ebony board which i really like the sound of. and also i personaly like having the headstock binding and inlay, and also gold hardware is cooler i think. i cant say that's my favorite finish though, i would get it in black.
joelettinger Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 yup the bigsby fits in just fine. you just have to point the tremolo arm towards the back of the case.
