Hi, Im new to the forum and I have a question for all you SG players. I really want a Gibson SG Standard in Heritage Cherry, but I dont want to sell my guitar to get one. Because of that Im looking at used guitars, and Im just wondering, is it worth buying a used Gibson SG Standard in Heritage cherry with upgraded tuners (I think its the same as the 2008 les paul standards tuners) and a the original case, apparantly it has no neck damage. Its costs 1067 US dollars.

Here it is http://www.finn.no/finn/bap/object?finnkode=15497008&sid=&WT.svl=Link

Hope you all can help me!

The new ones are going for $1,649, so that's not a bad deal. Before you do anything, ask the seller for more pictures, preferably of the serial number and some bodyshots so you can see if there's any cracks or signifigant damage that he's not mentioning. Bigger pictures would be better. It's better to take these precautions now than to get it and find that it's either a counterfeit or a lemon. Judging by the pics he has up there it looks legit, but sometimes it's best to ask questions.

Thanks, that was some really good tips, but if he has a serial number and I check it with gibson and it comes out real, wouldnt that be all I need? Of course damages and all that I'll check if I could meet him and try the guitar.

Oh, I didn't know you were gonna meet him in person to try it. That is a lot better than just buying it off the internet without checking it out first. And yeah, if that is the case, all you would need is the serial number. If he can give it to you, enter it on this website: http://www.guitardaterproject.org/gibson.aspx so it can check the number for you as well as give you info on what day the guitar was made.
