Is that 2-hole truss rod cover stock and operable?

Yes the truss rod cover is stock. I don`t know what you mean by operable though, but it has two screws that both go into wood. Just like the Gibson made Epiphone`s.

Three piece maple neck that joins the body at the 16th fret, nickel plated h/ware, shielded pots, and a fabulously raunchy pair of P-90`s! It also has a Brazillian rosewood fretboard! Ths Casino has seen off serious competition from a 65 John lennon reissue, an 03 Epiphone Elite, a 64 Gibson ES330, and two other early 80s Matsumoku`s [biggrin].

I have made only two mods to the guitar. I replaced the stock light 5-1/2" trapeze tailpiece for the heavy 6" one I had on the 64 Gibson 330 (The 330 got a Bigsby), and recently changed the bone nut for one I made out of Corian.

That's cool. By operable I meant do both screw holes allow the screws to retain the cover to the guitar. I've seen where folks have switched out 3-hole truss rod covers to the 2-hole because they like the look but only the top retains the cover…the bottom hole has no wood under it.

That's a great looking guitar and one that I wasn't aware existed. [thumbup]

Nothing wrong with the looks of The White Falcon Taxman!! Like that Yokum Casino and the headstock too!!

Here's my two. I have 2 of the 50th annie Casinos in the Royal Tan. Should get around to letting the one I've been saving new go this year I guess.

1. No, nothing wrong at all with the looks of a White Falcon. What I was suggesting, though, is that the Yoakam Casino looks too much like a Falcon. For a signature guitar there really is nothing original about it. It looks like a Falcon.

2. I just saw this Gary Clark Jr. guy (a guy who always sports a Casino) on a new live show on Palladia and he was playing (I think) the same model Casino that you have -- a 50th Anni Casino in Royal Tan. Cool looking guitar and he sure got some great sounds out of it.

Back to color, etc...

I don't have a Casino, but my two relatively recent Dots are a sunburst and a cherry. The cherry finish seems somehow a bit better done than the burst, but...

Of the archtops in general, some bursts, one natural, one black.

Why Dots stedda a Casino and a dot or whatever?

Weather. I don't wanna take out a full hollow in this kind of winter because frankly I've had problems with them holding tune the first hour or so, depending on lighting, etc., etc. I'd used a solid as my winter "play out electric" for years, but finally playing a black Dot some years ago convinced me it would be a better idea for what I was doing. So... if it's jazz, cowboy, pop, it's likely gonna be the burst; if I get hollered at to do some rock/blues, the cherry.

Although... gotta admit I look forward always to nicer weather when I can get back with the 16" archtops.

Don't know what the deal is, but somehow they play better doing their own thing. Odd, but...

No I haven't but I LIKES IT a bunch. Beautiful color at least in the photo.

I knew you weren't dissing any Gretsch Taxi as I bet you may have some (at least one being you like the Beatles). [biggrin] I hear what you mean on a "limited" or signature model and agree. Still it's one nice looking git ya got there.

I guess the allusion I was making wasn't strong enough...

I'm convinced that colors, especially on archtops, full, thin, hollow or with some sort of block, somehow tend to reflect something of what is being played - whether before or after purchase.

Were I to get a Casino it'd be natural if I had a choice at all, as I'd see it as a replacement of a "natural" full size 16" archtop for warmer weather playing. Why? It'd be playing light pop/rock material fingerstyle solo rather than something more "rock" or "blues." I think it'd be somehow more difficult to play a cherry ES175, even, with that sorta material, let alone a thin body.

To me the colour reflects more the player than what is being played. I like black guitars. The only non black guitars I own are my iced tea Les Paul and my vintage sunburst J45. Had the price been right when shopping for those two and they were available they would be black too. The model affects more which guitar I play for different styles than colour. Just my take on the matter.

Zep...

Interesting observation.

I think I have several music personas, though. They're all "me," but I think differently when I do different genres.

For example, all but one of my flattops are plain front; they all play mostly old-time, old country and occasionally strumming cowboy material. The 12 does more folk/rock. The smaller sunburst AE does mostly cowboy and - perhaps oddly enough, some jazz standards, all fingerstyle. The Archtops include two sunbursts that do pop/jazz fingerstyle, the black one does funky material like Jesse Fuller, the natural one is semi-retired and did everything but heavily country-rock in the '70s.

The one solidbody was my winter backup for anything other than a flattop, and is natural, albeit with an acorn/oak leave carved top. (Early '70s Guild S100c, very similar to the SG.)

Then there are the two semis that mostly do winter duty to fill in for an archtop, although more of the saloon variety of rock/blues/country.

I'm with Parabar. Turquoise!!!

Just picked up Casino number two. Number one was a beautiful natural color. Had movement in the grain, and I love the way the darker neck contrasted with the body. This new one is turquoise. Flamboyant, versus the classy look of number one. I was a bit reluctant at first. Took about 10 minutes to get with the new program. Quickly realized this gaudy little thing is a blast to play, looks just as cool as it really is.

Cherry is more my thing, or that's what I would have said a week ago. Now, TURQUOISE!!

I posted this photo in another Epi thread on the forum last night, but yesterday I was at GC and spied this gorgeous brand new goldtop Casino on clearance for $449.99... Not sure why it was marked down this low, but it was a beauty - and played great! If I hadn't just bought a used natural Casino off Craigslist this summer, I would have jumped all over this thing! Especially at that price..
