xodus Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I have les paul type of knobs on the 69 sg i had just got whats a safe way to get them off??? I don't want to pull on the pots too hard and damage them. also, I think they may be 60s/70's les paul knobs....bu how do I know for sure ALSO I'm looking for vintage witch hat knobs for my SG, if anyone has any, or knows a good deal let me know. THANKS!
modoc_333 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 try pulling them off... it might be easy. the other trick is to put a shoelace under them and use it to wiggle them off.
xodus Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 cool, I'll give it a try just pulling them off seemed like a bad idea. They would not budge and I could see I was really pulling on the original pots
LT ED Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Bit of cloth or a shoe lace will do it but you may also want to protect the body. When I did it the tone knob flew about 3 feet into the air and landed on the body putting a nice ding in my SG so take care.
Murph Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 So I'm guessing I shouldn't have used a claw hammer? It worked! (kidding) Murph.
