muzzy Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Hi all I bought a new gibson studio the other day. I was just in the process of taking some pics for to show off and noticed that the serial on the head stock is very faided to the point where you can bearly read some of the numbers. Is this right? The reason i say im paranoid is that ive been done once with a fake guitar and im hoping it hasnt happened again. Those serial checkers say its all ok but the fake one did as well. Thanks Muzzy
RichCI Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Finish the pics and post them here. It's only a wild guess without being able to see.
Bluemoon Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 There was another post about this the other day. The consensus was that it is not uncommon for the serial number to be hard to read. It still could be fake, though. Post some pictures and someone here will be able to tell you if it is fake or not.
killyridols Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Hey Muzzy If you bought it from an authorized dealer it should be legit.
muzzy Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 here are a couple of the serial. Yes killyridols as far as im aware they are an authorized seller. Im sure it it legit just looks a bit odd when you can hardly see the serial. Thanks Guys Muzzy
Bluemoon Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 You may want to post photos of the entire guitar.
WhiteRaven Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Logic would say that if you bought it new from a dealer, it's real... unless the dealer is the most dishonest person ever.
muzzy Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Here we go... sorry about the quality they were taken on me phone.
muzzy Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Thank God!! :D So is it common for serial to very faded?
Bluemoon Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Looks great. Nice guitar. I think the faded serial number thing does happen--but not necessarily "common." It has come up before on the forum. see http://forums.gibson.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=10990
muzzy Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Thank you Bluemoon!! :D it was a choice between that and the ebony with chrome hardware.
SRV-Zeppelin Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 nice guitar. Looks fine. Welcome to the forums- and you should have gone with the ebony. :D
RichCI Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Looks fine to me. It's just a bit difficult to make out the S# when it's a black finish.
kursal Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 My Robot is exactly the same. Lovely finish but difficult to read the SN against the black finish.
Kolera Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Looks great. Nice guitar. I think the faded serial number thing does happen--but not necessarily "common." It has come up before on the forum. see http://forums.gibson.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=10990 Also here http://forums.gibson.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=10244 Bottom half of the post...

Thermionik Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Two things we can say about muzzy..... (1) He IS paranoid. (2) He has a very nice guitar.
muzzy Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 lol Thank you all for indulging me in my random paranoia. Oh and thanks for all the compliments!! Happy New Year to you all!! Muzzy
