It is in a bag (still on the pickguard) along with the original bridge, tailpeice, tuners, pots, jack and switch. Bender 4 Life Posted January 11, 2014 Share Posted January 11, 2014 as long as it's issue free, and plays/sounds great, I don't care what's on the PG......or in the case of Epis, what's on the TRC either. what I DON'T care for are Gibbys w/the model engraved into the TRC, these are quickly replaced w/ "Historic blank" TRCs when I buy one. I do LOVE the blank, 2-screw TRC on my new Guild though.....looks quite classy IMO ! the silk-screened logo on the PG doesn't bother me either as it's not what i'd call "overdone" Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Yes Sir Mr.Dennis, it is.....I believe it was the 1st one Sweetwater sold. i've had it since this past Sept, and it's beyond amazing...really hard to put away once it's out of the case. everything about it is just "above and beyond" what I expected within its' price-range. Notes_Norton Posted January 13, 2014 Share Posted January 13, 2014 I took the E off my Casino, and later got another, thinner pickguard made. Why remove the E? Clutter, the E on the truss rod cover is enough for me. Why thinner? I like to feel the bottom of the pickup with my right pinky when singing (mouth glued to the mic) and I want to orient my hand to play call & response licks. Once oriented, I can let go of the pickup. In the end, I sort of "Gibsonized" my Casino, not to make it look like one, because I think it looks better that way. If I wanted to hide the Epiphone headstock, I'd get a clip on tuner ;) I think the black pickguard brings out the beauty of the wood better, the no E gets rid of the distraction, and the witch hat knobs bring tie the black headstock, black pickguard and black knobs together to make the guitar look classier. Vinlander Posted January 15, 2014 Share Posted January 15, 2014 Using some nail remover, I removed the Joe Pass signature from my Emperor II last weekend; for some reason It always looked cheesy for my taste. I used a black permanent marker to darken the back of the pickguard to lessen the effect of cheap tortoise imitation too... Then my wife came into the room, looked at the guitar and said wow, looks nice but what about that "Euro" symbol still on it? I decided to use the remover on it too and to be honest the guitar looks now much better with a blank pickguard. Epiphone is well written on the Headstock and the Joe Pass is still on the trussrod cover Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
BobF_ Posted January 15, 2014 Share Posted January 15, 2014 I wouldn't want a Sig on my guitar anywhere terribly conspicuous under any circumstances. Headstocks/TRCs are OK. I wouldn't mind the 'E' on the PG *IF* it were done tastefully. Some glued-on-crooked foil doodad or a sticker don't qualify as tasteful, IMO. I took the PG from my Ultra-339 along with a scanned copy of the 'E' monstrosity to the only place in the area I could find that does engraving. They wanted $60 to engrave a simple outline-style 'E' where the monstrosity had been glued on crooked at the factory. No, I didn't go for it. One day I will do it myself. Or not. Guild should never have quit making electric's IMHO. I gigged with one of these in the '60's and recently picked this Starfire IV up for a lot more than the one I used back in the day LOL. If the "E" on the truss rod cover of my ZBD looked like that I would have kept it but the chalky white screen printed "E" that was on there just did not look right against the beautiful inlay and binding on the headstock.
