Love the guy, seen him 5 times live and every time he was outstanding. Massively underrated guitarist too. One of the finest songwriters this country has seen.

Ahhh, he prolly got it free anyway!! [biggrin]

Love mine, wish it was free. I did get a free Elitist Casino about 1 week after my ordered one arrived (by mistake was double shipped by a large online company w/o any paperwork record of it). Made the VP of sales write to me so I could explain how they were losing money as I bet I wasn't the only one. After he called me I told him the story & he thanked me. I asked for a call tag to pick it up and back it went. They sent me a $150 gift cert. as a thanks for being honest.

It did freak me out (as I decided to open the 2nd one & keep the best of the two) that the S/N on the "free" one had 666 sequentially in the numbers. I knew then I there that I didn't want that guitar and was being tested/tempted to keep it/sell it. Decided not to bite on that apple. [biggrin] Was ashamed of myself that the thought to keep it did pass thru my mine however. Didn't last, especially when I saw that S/N !

Interesting story. I guess we all would have the "should I keep it thought" pass through our brains. Depending upon hold long that passes through your brain would determine what knid of person you are.

The 666 serial number is definitely strange and I wouldn't even touch the guitar. I had a car that I noticed the odomoeter was ending with 666. So I just drove around the block a few times to get rid of it.

And I'm not sure that Lennon's Casino was free. I know for a fact that Fender, Rickenbacker, and Vox gave them certain items free, but I don't know if any other comapanies did.

The favorite catch phrase, was John and George "obtained" theirs, after admiring Paul's.

"Obtained" probably meant that Brian paid for them, out of their "earnings," and Mal picked

them up, for John and George, much like he did their Strats. But, who really knows? Maybe

Paul, and/or Ringo, does? [biggrin]

I know what you mean on the "thought" part. The sequence was:

1) "Man, they sent this out free and I can sell it. (about 10 secs that it was mine free)

2) The next moment it was "naw, I couldn't do that, that ain't right" thought.

3) "Well it isn't going to be wrong for me to see which one is the best thought

4) Found the s/n with 666 in it and said "Hell NO I can't keep this one for sure" thought

5 Felt like I had just been heavily tested on my right/wrong moral compass (as it was a overwhelming #1 thought that had popped in my head. Like guided & planted there.

On the "free" part for John's Casino, I think CB is prolly right as rain.

Great picture!

Did you know: John loved that sleeveless cardigan. He wore it a lot in public including the Hey Jude and Revolution videos, Mad Day Out and the laucnh of Apple Tailoring!

Isn't that the one that looks like a "caveman" Fred Flintstone style? Man, if so, I think my front porch door mat would have been softer material & less scratchy too!!! [biggrin]

Kind of off topic but does anyone know when John added the gold Grovers to his casino? I know that all of the pics from the rooftop performance show it with the original oval button tuners.

***Edit just resized the pics and see the Grovers***

I think it was sometime in early 1970, as he still had the KLusons on when he played the Toronto Rock & Roll revival festival in September 69. Additionally from the photos I`ve seen, his Casino still looks to have the Klusons when he played the Lyceum Ballroom (London)on December 16th 1969.

I don't think this is actually a photograph to be honest. Some of the lighting looks all airbrushed...

The picture is from the Get Back sessions at Twickenham Studios recording Let It Be. They moved to Apple Studios halfway through January 1969 so this picture is based on the first two weeks of January so the Klusons were still on.

Lennon wore this outfit on 2 separate days during these sessions but I think this photo is based on the day Paul is wearing the big yellow jumper which is the day they did Maxwell's Silver Hammer: 3rd January 1969

Also as an after thought, Lenon grew a beard in 1969 (and throughout Abbey Road) and still had it in December 1969 before getting it trimmed and his hair shaved for TOTP in February 1970.
