old mark
Just bought one online, in the Heritage Cherry burst...I think it's an older one - very strong color, and the newer ones I have seen are "faded" or some such thing... I think they are beautiful guitars, and EVERY Epi acoustic I have now has far outdistanced my expectations, and I am really looking forward to it...be here early next week. Pics when it arrives. mark
GuitarLight
Love my 2008 Indonesia Hummingbird..it's 6 years old now. The new ones are made in China from what I understand. I've heard Epiphone in China has tampered with the new Hummingbirds...turning them weird orange, deforming the bridge, and shrinking the pick guard... and darkening it to almost black to remove most of the nice marbling, and making the pick guard incredibly cheap and even thinner than it already was......I certainly hope Epiphone has not ruined yet another classic model. If they did this to get people to buy their Gibson $3100 Hummingbird..they better think again. I'll buy a Yamaha instead if they ruined the HB. The Epiphone Hummingbird has been around for decades and loved by millions. I wanted a second Epi HB Pro model... If this tampering is true, I will not be up for another, as other guitar makers like Yamah and Seagull are far more consistent in their models. They seldom shoot themselves in the foot like Epiphone aka...Masterbilt...Elite..and the vanishing and changed models go on and on. Tiresome really. Look closely at my beautiful 2008 model pics below. Compare the color, the bridge, the pick guard on the new ones. No thanks.
old mark
Mine is an older one, too...not sure how old, but looks more like yours that like the new ones. I got my Epiphone Elitist Casino in 2012, and have five other Epi guitars and t basses, and now this one coming next week...You are right, though - at least 3 of my guitars and one of the basses is no longer made. mark
