My new MIC Casino!

Other than the famous string rattle (only heard acoustically), I'm loving this through my Fender Deluxe!

FYI I found a string rattle on mine was due to the toggle switch. When it is in the middle position it is sloppy and rattles on certain notes/strings. In the top or bottom positions it is firm and I don't get the rattle.

I tried the Casino through a Tube Screamer (with the drive pot completely down - just a gain boost) and the pickups seem too hot for the pedal and sound too muddy/distorted through the pedal. When I turn the volume pots down to about 4 or 5 on the Casino I don't have the problem. So I tried it with a volume pedal first before I hit the Tube Screamer with the Casino's volume pots all the way up. That cleaned it up nice. I'm still experimenting. I've always loved P90s but on a full hollow body - this thing needs some taming. I name all my guitars so I'm naming this one The Blonde Beast! :-)

CB,

What kind of amp are you playing your Casino through? I tend to avoid pedals on a guitar like this. I use a DRRI and the Casino sounds beautiful through it.

Yeah, I run mine through either a Fender "Blues Jr.," Hot Rod Deluxe, or my Vox AC-30,

and in the case I can find a venue that will allow my Twin Reverb, to be used at it's

"Sweet Spot," I've used it with that, as well. But, those places (now) are few and far

between, around my "neck of the woods," unfortunately.

Works well, in ALL of them! I have played mine through a "Blackface" '64 Deluxe Reverb,

and it was "Superb!" So, I can see how you'd love that particular combination! [thumbup][biggrin]

Thanks CB for the reply.

I set the amp volume on around 5 with the treble on around 5 and the bass on 1 or 2.

But this forces me to lower the guitar's volume pots down to about 5 to get a clear rhythm/picking sound without breakup.

The other option I see is having the Casino's volume pots cranked and lowering the amp but the pickups seem a bit too hot for that (or I could use a boost pedal in front of the amp for leads).

Any suggestions?

Thanks again,

Jimmi

I like the "Old School" approach, of finding the "Sweet Spot" on the

amps volume and tone, then backing off the volume, on the guitar,

for "clean" and cranked back up, for leads. [thumbup] I worked like that, in

my mispent youth, and loved it! Of course, we didn't have "pedals"

save the Fuzz Face, (Vox) Tone Bender, or DeArmond or Vox Wah Wah's,

back then...AKA The Stone® Age '60's! [flapper][biggrin]

Had a nice (recent) experience, with that "Old School" approach, from

a regional, and Awesome "Blues" band, called "Trampled Under Foot" (TUF)

where their guitarist used only his guitar, and a Twin Reverb, at it's

"Sweet Spot." NO pedals, at all, save his tuner! It sounded SO AWESOME,

and very familiar, as well! So, it was a nice, and welcomed reminder,

that keeping it simple, is still a viable alternative! [thumbup]

Cheers,

CB

CB,

I'm just experimenting with this because the pickups are so hot. I'm checking out the variables. Anyway, I've been playing as long as you. I used to play a Gretsch Nashville with The Laughing Dogs in the late 70s -

hollow body, but nowhere near the growl of this thing. I usually go through all this with every new guitar and then end up just straight into the amp. Ha!

[biggrin] Fun stuff! Actually, I didn't play guitar, at all, for nearly 30 years. Just got

the "bug" again, in about 2000. Been playing, or at least attempting to[tongue], ever since.
