I Wish Gibson Would Make A Les Paul "Traditional" with P-90's!

I don't understand the question.

http://www2.gibson.c...-0309-2011.aspx

To me, it is thought of as a R&Roll guitar.

??

I would think the P90s represent more of a Blues type guitar.

??

If you are waiting for an answer from Gibson though, you may be waiting for a very long time.

Which perhaps if it is a Blues guitar, I consider more of a semi-hollow guitar and also a hollow guitar for a jazz guitar, not a Traditional though.

This two cents worth is brought to you by only a half cent.

[unsure]

And well perhaps you have to be more important as a guitar player to have a guitar you prefer.

(just some humor).

I don't think of P-90's as strictly a "blues" type pickup, at all.

They were used for Country, Jazz, and Rock & Roll, as well as for

Blues, for years!! They still work well, for all of those genres.

Maybe "Humbuckers" are better for "Metal," or other "High Gain"

styles, but P-90's are certainly a great alternative, for the other

genres, mentioned. As well as "sparkling cleans" they have an awesome

"Growl" and articulate distorted sound, when so desired.

I think it would be Great, if Gibson made a regular production Les Paul

"Traditional," with P-90's, in the Gibson USA line. One can always get

the R-2, R-4, or R-6, of course. But, it would be nice, to have a less

expensive, but just as viable alternative, as well. And, in more color

options, including the "Gold Top" also.

IMHO, as always!

How about it, Gibson? Why not make a Les Paul "Traditional" model version, with P-90's?...

I could second that thought, CB.

Sort-of like a non-Custom-Shop version of the R6 in finishes other than Gold-Top?

Something like this, perhaps?

Yeah!!! Now you're talkin', Pippy! [thumbup][biggrin] Of course, keep the iconic "Gold Top," too,

but just offer more color options, as well.

And, depending on color, offer the cream colored plastic parts, also. [thumbup]

These Gibson LP Traditional Pro, P90 - mine is in Ebony- was a special available through Guitar Center. They have a coil tap in both P90's, and came in GoldTop versions, too...the GT's had a 50's type neck while the Eb's had a 60's style, although it's still very comfortable and very fast. They are now discontinued, but I gut mine used a few months ago...they are our there if you find someone foolish enough to sell theirs...

It's a GEM! msp_thumbup.gif

added- I have 5 guitars with P 90's, Gibsons and Epiphones, and they are very versatile pickups-the limits are the player's imagination, not the pups.
