GuitarJunkie
Call 1-800-4GIBSON, give them the serial number and they'll let you know instantly. It looks legit to me. My guess is it's one of those REALLY cool models made only for the Japanese market.
lozartuk
It was made in the USA though apparently.
GuitarJunkie
Yeah, they're all made in the U.S. They just have some oddball models that they only release in Japan. The market for Gibsons over there is huge so they do a lot of exclusives.
Sinner 13
According too Guitar dater project Your guitar was made at the Nashville Plant, TN, USA February 9th, 2006 Production Number: 252 I have had pretty decent luck Running S#'s through here. Also on the Gibson site there are instructions on how to correctly read these numbers as well.
GuitarJunkie
It's easy enough to get the date. Calling Gibson though, will confirm that the number does belong to a yellow, doublecut Junior.
heritage cherry
Weren't the LP junior double cuts originally called LP Specials? They currently sell them in Australia too, not just Japan. I suppose you can get them anywhere. I love the TV yellows and want one. But I have only seen black & worn cherry in Australia. Whilst there has been a developing school of thought in recent years that Keith Richards recorded Brown Sugar with an SG, I think this may not be correct. I think it may have actually been his LP special. Keef are you out there mate ?
GuitarJunkie
The general rule is that whether they are single or doublecut, Juniors have one pickup and Specials have two.
