nikko18 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 hey you guys i have a old bob dylan hurricane carter benefit album in vynal. it has a pretty cool album sleeve thing, it has a picture of bob dylan on the front and on the back is a picture of the statue of liberty in front of the world trade center building. my family says it's probably worth something, do any of you know if this is true?

Thermionik Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Glad you corrected spelling to vinyl there..... Is it this one: but with Japanes text, white label promo 7" are worth a few dollars (maybe 100$US) or is it the double bootleg benefit album SOOD007, probably worth about 40-50$ in mint in the original shrinkwrap. Condition is all in the used Vinyl trade. It's a weird one too - Dylan's version of events is a little 'skewed'..... http://www.graphicwitness.com/carter/song.html
nikko18 Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 nope it's not either of those. here's some pics of it. it was made by pheonix records and printed in australia. it has two discs in it. front back
Thermionik Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Currently retailing at 'The Garden' in Norway: THE HURRICANE CARTER BENEFIT LP, Australian 20-track double vinyl. Recorded live in New York 1976. Excellent Condition 250Norwegian Kroner = about 35$US And I am afraid it doesn't even make it into the vinyl collectors reference books like 'Rare Record Price Guide' or 'Price Guide for Record Collectors'. This suggests it is neither rare or desirable. Put it on fleabay - you may get a nibble for $25-$30 - assuming it is in Excellent or better condition..... and that means NO signs of having been played, NO marks on disc or cover, no tears, dents, scratches, creases, labels, writing or whatever. Looking at the lower picture of the back you posted - above the logo on the edge, looks like some slight crease marking in the black area - that pulls it down to Very Good to Excellent - $20-$25 on a good day. Oh yeah - don't push the 'Twin Towers' thing either - you will get a lot of peoples backs up.....
nikko18 Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 okay thanks for the info, i may wait a while maybe it will be worth something eventually. or maybe i'll get a new record player evetually. mine broke >:[
Thermionik Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 . . Nikko - yah HAVE to get a record player..... .....you can NOT beat the snap, crackle and hiss of vinyl under a needle. Respect, N!k a.k.a. Thermionik
