May Blitz

Recommended Posts

May Blitz got their 15 minutes of fame in 1970.

Tony Newman had played drums on 'Beck-Ola' and found James Black (gtr) and Reid Hudson (bass), both Canadians, and scored a deal with the new Vertigo label.

This track is classic - James Black was tremendous - simple but effective and with a total hippy stoner vibe ('The trees were so friendly') which....I sort of miss....!

I saw them; Guildford University. Very powerful and an enduring memory.

The album cover is horrible. They got 2 albums on Vertigo and that was it.

What happened to James Black? I don't know. Newman went on to play with Bowie.
