Psychonaut69
Never got to see the Tubes but I did get to see Vince Welnick work the keyboard with the Grateful Dead many times. Too bad he let his depression get the best of him.....
RowdyMoon
The one thing always stands out in my memory is when they were on SCTV back in the day...a john Candy skit called the fishin' musician. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPa6WNj82Gs

quapman
I never really got the Tubes. I did see them in 83 in Vancouver but they were the first of 3 acts that night. Followed by Peter Gabriel and David Bowie they were somewhat overshadowed. I don't think too many were there to see them. I kinda felt bad for them. SteveFord
I loved their first two albums. For something totally different, do a search for Nina Hagan doing WPOD in German. I still have the EP, it's really strange.

rocketman
Yeah The Tubes were great. Way ahead of their time. Steve Lukather and Fee Waybill were really good friends. Steve played the guitar, including the solo, on Talk To Ya Later. We rotated a lot of songs when we played out in our day, but that was a tune that we always played. Jimi Mac
I always thought their stuff that aired on the radio back in the day was catchy... I heard their days in San Francisco saw them incorporate live sex acts in their gigs and stuff, and that kind of underground stuff isn't my thing at all... I'm a Blues Hound, so it never appealed to me in the least... But the stuff that did make it to the FM radio airplay across the country I did in fact like and thought it was piquant enough to hold my attention... Searcy
I always loved that later, more pop work that the Tubes did. I didn't come to appreciate their early prog work till latter in life. This has been one of my favorites. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prNM_8Manz4
