Something I have been meaning to get off my chest: Who the hell licensed Howlin' Wolf's Smokestack Lightnin' for a Viagra commercial? If that cat were alive, he'd destroy both the drug company and the ad firm that made it.

Legendary blues men don't need no ED drug. They got the Johnny Conqueroo!

Oh brother... <grin>

I've thought roughly the same, though - plus the way the ad suggests one needs a pill to remain ... uhhhhh ... attached to life and creativity. I think not. Without getting too gross or graphic, my understanding is that the over 70 crowd has had one of the highest increases in stds in the past decade or so, and I doubt seriously that any pills on either side were involved since they weren't necessarily required. <grin>

Public domain territory at this point? FWIW.........love Howlin Wolf but I'll take a version the Dead did back in the late 60's with Pigpen on vocals anytime.

Tackiness and impertinence can often be found in advertisement from my point of view. I think the public relations people often provoke deliberately. I don't care about that except for making my children aware of those mechanisms.

When educating children, one will find out that sadly there's one thing that politics and economy have in common: the share of truth in their publications is rather small. I guess this is one of the reasons why they want to take education out of the parents' hands here and move it to public authorities from earliest childhood on, i. e. starting when the little ones are one year old. Same thing happened in fascist and socialist regimes before. It seems we live under a dictation of economy due to global turbo capitalism.

Yeah, that's what my step-mom was telling me. Hot times in the assisted living communities. :-s

Frank's "Why Does It Hurt When I Pee?" could have been pure marketing gold for Trojan.

I was thinking Frank's song would be great for the pharmaceutical de jour for std antibiotics?

Stand Tall for ED. (The dirty heads version).

funny but true Mills.........in '02 or '03, in Miami Fl. there was a HUGE "retirement complex" housing 3 large buildings worth of folks....of which 80% had contracted syphillus thanks to "the little blue pill".

Swingin' in Miami indeed....... [laugh]

My point was the choice of artist. Cats like Howlin Wolf and Muddy Waters had super mojo. It's insulting to link them with a drug you take when your junk doesn't work.

Howlin Wolf has(maybe had) quite an estate and a foundation in his name as well. The heirs or owners prolly bought back or always had the rights and need some money. It usually is just that simple.
