daveinspain
I think it might be worth seeing if you are interested in the life of Hendrix and want to know more about what and where he got his insperation from and how and why he died.

In his own puke, because he took a lot of drugs. I already know the end of this movie, so I might see it on cable if there isn't anything else on. rct

cookieman15061
Man I could really care less about this Bio Pic. I love Jimi, his music and how he changed guitar playing as we know it, but these kind of movies are always a huge drag to me. You just can't condense a life into a 90 minute drama. That and the fact that most, if not all of the dialog is made up by writers that weren't there and it becomes someone's sad interpretation of what the 60s music scene was. I'll pass but hope everyone who's looking forward to it isn't disappointed.
Searcy
There are those that would say you are completely wrong about that… Hendrix had a lot of enemies that were afraid of his influence over young people and the numbers of people that were listening ti him… My brother in law thinks Clapton murdered him because he was too good. daveinspain
Really? That's too bad. It is hard for people to acknowledge the truth. rct And how do you know that's the truth…? That's what you were told is probably more accurate. Unless you were there of course...
rct
And how do you know that's the truth…? That's what you were told is probably more accurate. Unless you were there of course... So yeah, so how many people a year, including my brother, die from substance abuse? And how many in the music business in particular lose their careers at the very least, and end up dead at the very worst, because of substance abuse? How many people a year all over the world choke to death in their own puke or worse because of drugs? There are probably statistics, probably figures looked after by people that do that sort of thing for a living. So ok, so how many people have been offed by phony drug overdoses because they had some sort of undue influence over young people? Get over it. He took downers. Downers kill. Downers killed him just like everyone else they have killed. Taking downers is really stupid. There is no sense in concocting fantabulous stories to cover up dumbness. It happens. rct
daveinspain
Sorry to hear about your brother rct, that is a real tragity... Hendrix was into pot and LSD... You don't play like he did on downers... And yes it is stupid to take any kind of drugs, we both agree on that.

pippy
I haven't checked recently....but wasn't the official cause of death 'Asphyxiation after inhalation of vomit due to barbiturate intoxication' or some such wording? He took a German brand of sleeping tablets which were 4x stronger than those available in the UK and, when they reacted with the alcohol in his stomach, he was sick and collapsed. It seems generally accepted that he was still alive when the ambulance took him away. He was placed seated, upright, but his head flopped backwards meaning it would be impossible for his air-passage to become clear and he choked. D.O.A. at the hospital. I've read this account several times from several sources over several (OK, three-and-a-half) decades but, of course, it might all still just be a story.... P.
