I took the strings off last night and removed the scratch plate and it looks like you're spot on. There is a slight ridge in the lacquer ( which doesn't polish out ) the exact shape of the scratch plate, it's as though the lacquer wasn't totally set when the scratch plate was fitted.I'd appreciate your thoughts ? Cheers Brian. Gibson would've buffed it before the guard was fitted. I assume the lacquer has to be pretty dry to withstand that. Not sure what could cause a ridge.
