Well I thought I would try recording my bfg for anyone wondering what they sound like being a chambered body and having a p90 in the neck

I already posted this on mylespaul forum but thought I would share here too incase anyone is interested;

Very nice work! Excuse me now, I have to go find my face, it melted off my skull.

Awesome... [thumbup]

I had a BFG and loved everything about it but the 50s neck so I sold it (it was one of the Gary Moore ones).. If they ever make one with a 60s neck I will have to buy one.

In fact I wanted that pickup combo so much (and Gibson wernt offering any at the time, they do now) that I ended up making my own guitar :D

cheers guys.. I kept the backing track low so that you can hear the guitar clearly. The only trade off is that it sounds kinda empty.

Rabs, would like to see some pics of your handywork!

Having the BFG has made me wonder what other les pauls sound like with P90's. I dunno about you but I much prefer a p90 in the neck instead of a bucker. So much more articulate and not even slightly muddy. I use it more than the bridge which is a first for me. Such a fun guitar

With pleasure...

I literally just finished the first one a week or so ago...

Looks like this

and sounds like this... Go to 2:20.. I started the demo just using my camera mic and amp (and I have a REALLY crap amp).. after that I plug directly into a 4 track for better sound (and excuse my bad playing, my mind always seems to go blank when I do videos) :)

And yes P90s just absolutely rock.. I have two gibbies with P90s in neck and bridge position a 60s tribute goldtop and a LP Double Cut Special... I love both of them as much as my Standard with humbuckers. As you say.. they are lots of fun [thumbup]

One more thing about having a P90 and a humbucker in the same guitar is that the middle position sounds much more interesting than on most guitars... You can almost hear the pickups fighting each other (but in a good way :)).

Bah I'm at work and the vid is blocked. Will watch it tonight :)

I know what you mean about mind going blank when doing videos. I find I tense up and over think my playing and as such loose technique and feel.. annoying!

Yeh totally, good description on the middle position. Lots of tones to listen to. I'm suprised a p90 in the neck isn't standard on LP's.
