spinedocns
I am in the process of restoring my 80’s era ES-355. I am interested in converting if from stereo to mono. I would like to hear others experience with this and what you feel would be the best way of accomplishing this while preserving the best tonality and doing it in the most cost effective manner. L5Larry
Not stated, but I'm going to assume it's also a Varitone model. According to Gibson schematics, it takes a major re-wire job, but if you're up to it, here's the drawings. The main difference is that for the stereo model the dual varitone is wired in with each tone control before the p/u selector switch. In the mono version only one side of the varitone switch is used and wired AFTER the p/u selector switch. My 345 is a factory mono version.
