Pickax Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Following from your other thread, I'd get a new (Bone) saddle and set it up to your specs. 2/64" on the treble E would be way too low for me and it would likely buzz.
DRC Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 The ends of the saddle on my J-35 are smooth and not roughly filed like yours, and it fits snugly in the slot. You mentioned in your previous thread that the saddle on your J-35 has some space behind it and was leaning slightly forward, which should never happen. When I get around to replacing the Element pickup with a K&K or JJB, I'll make a new bone saddle. But for now it sounds great the way it is....except for the Element. Without the UST sitting under the saddle and a new bone saddle, it should sound even better. Here's the saddle on mine as it came from the factory. I'm very particular about setups since I play in DADGAD, and the only thing I had to do is very slightly lower the action at the nut for a little better comfort when playing open. Overall, the factory action was excellent for my needs.
benc Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Yea,that looks great. Wish mine would have looked like that. It's really hard to buy online it's hit or miss.I did ask if it was a return and they said that it was a new guitar. With that saddle filed that way and the high e string so low.........I dunno! The high e string at the nut was really low looked like it was filed to low. thanks for posting
