daveinspain Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Just thought I'd right that because it rhymes and sounds cool... No really, So many pedals out there and seems there's a new one out almost every day/week/month... How many times can you re-invent or combine, compression, distortion, reverb, delay, tremolo, chours, wha and all the other usuals... Just sayin'...
quapman Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I agree Dave. I gave up on pedals long ago. I couldn't even tell ya whats out there now... I'm guessing its just more of the same. I really don't even pay attention to them. Although I did buy a looper just for fun.
Riffster Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 It gets crazy but somehow it keeps working. I wanted a Rangemaster for the longest time, I wanted the original or a clone, ended up with a Divided by 13 Dyna Ranger and I'll be damned if the 5 preset cap selector isn't the most useful thing for me. I'd never guessed it. On the other hand Electro-Harmonix launched 5 overdrive pedals just this year. Dang.
krock Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I just bought a foxrox octron. I've never owned another pedal like it, its does the octavia thing as well as sub octave. I'm selling a few of my other pedals though, like my keeley java boost, which is their version of the rangemaster

I'd never guessed it. I read some good stuff about the Dyna Ranger a couple months ago...here...want to try that one! I just bought a foxrox octron. I've never owned another pedal like it, its does the octavia thing as well as sub octave. Amazing pedal! I must shut up 'cos I love pedals.....
RowdyMoon Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I was just looking at some pedals online and was amazed at how much the prices have gone up...a little over a year ago I bought the earthquake disaster transport deley for $217....now they are listed at $240.
surfpup Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Pedals are fun. Pedals sound cool. I love 'em. As for "How many times can you re-invent or combine..." Cars all have four wheels. So why are there so many different models? Don't they all do the same thing (get you from point A to point B)?
Riffster Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 In other news Maxxon is releasing 7 fuzz pedals at once.
Drog Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Ha, ha, I have like eight different distortion pedals, lol.
RevDavidLee Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I have been reviewing pedals for about 12 years now and as a result, believe it or not (it's true folks) I have over 300 of them in my studio. I find them to be an absolute blast. They're like crayons to me and I like a lot of colors in my sonic world. Each to his own I guess. And two snaps up on Foxrox and Keeley stuff - I have every pedal either one has ever made and these guys are just 2 of my all time favorite builders. Lots of great stuff out there to help keep your creative juices flowing. After spending the big bucks for amps and guitars to get my base sounds established - pedals were the next natural step for me to enhance creativity. Never limit yourself as an artist

Never limit yourself as an artist You should write something up for us mere mortals who don't have access to all that cool stuff I do like the Java boost but I dont have the space to be able to crank my amps up loud enough to get it to sound natural Is the next natural step after the pedals to enhance creativity the pick of destiny or a robot hand?

I can just picture you with your "pedals/crayons" with your tongue out the side of your mouth coloring your tones. That is the best analogy I have heard in a long time. When I say I don't use them I hope nobody took offense to that. That's just me. And I'm just a hack. I never intended to belittle the use of them. Having been away from guitar for so many years I am overwhelmed by the choices out there and really have no desire to research what's out there. So don't get me wrong. I love a nice delay and a flange or some crazy distortion. I just suck so bad that I need to hone my skills first... lol. Maybe when I get better I will care more about effects. For now I just need to practice. Maybe a couple pedals later...
