Working Mans Blue Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 im glad the pictures of this one arent very good quality because this breaks my heart. "custom" j45 standard. Looks like he bedazzled it, signed the back of the headstock. and expects someone to pay retail new guitar price for it. Very sad My link
mountainpicker Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 It's the uber rare SY-45 with the rhinestone herringbone purfbling. Can't you just envision the moment of inspiration; it's late at night and then that aha moment strikes and the brain goes, "I know what I'll do to my guitar!". Seemed like a good idea at the time.
Working Mans Blue Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 and i just noticed this is samash that is selling this guitar, wow! how could they consider this to be upgraded and justify a price increase over a regular j45. and it looks like someone drew a yellow line 3/4 of the way across the headstock. wow samash, really?
Martin 1940D28 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 This will be a real seller once it is in regular production! Why not, look what else has been selling over the past 10 years...
capmaster Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Imagine the guy who signed it would become a star someday... ;)
GuitarLight Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Oh my. Oh my my my my my my my my my my....my my my, Oh my...
zombywoof Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I will bet you there is some Porter Wagoner tribute band out there that is dying to get their Nudie suited arms around this one.
j45nick Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I will bet you there is some Porter Wagoner tribute band out there that is dying to get their Nudie suited arms around this one. It ain't fancy enough for that.
cybercat Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (snip) Looks like he bedazzled it, signed the back of the headstock. and expects someone to pay retail new guitar price for it. Very sad My link Imagine the guy who signed it would become a star someday... ;) He? ...Sean Young is a SHE - the actress who played "Rachel" in the original 1982 movie Blade Runner (+ over 100 other movies)... Blade Runner at IMDB Sean Young at IMDB ( & also famously a bit of a fruit & nut case, which maybe partly explain the, erm, 'bedazlement' of the poor instrument). Strange come everybody missed "owned by Sean Young (Blade Runner)" from the auction. So, in answer to the OP's post: Yes, very possibly - the movie had a big enough 'cult' status that I imagine there may well be a Blade Runner or Sean Young fan out there somewhere who might go for it. - & no, it won't be me... I'll stick with my well-hammered 2001 J-45, despite its complete lack of any bling, thanks.
capmaster Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 DAMN! The girl is my age group but I have never been interested in cinema in general or Blade Runner in particular... guess that's why I overlooked it, too.
Joe M Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 and it looks like someone drew a yellow line 3/4 of the way across the headstock. I think that line is a reflection of lights, not something that was drawn on the headstock.
