H3RB4LS Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Well I've had this SG for about 12 or so years. I just took it to the shop to get re-wired because of connection issues, also plan on putting 57/57+ pickups in it. The reason I'm posting is that I'm just curious to get a rough idea of how much the thing is worth? I'm not asking for an exact dollar amount as I know that's impossible from looking at a picture. The only information I have after checking the ID website stating it was made in 70-72. Also, not sure if it's worth noting but the guy at the shop said it had a "2" on it (headstock) mentioning something about a possible small defect (maybe a flaw in the finish, nothing major). Anyway, here's a few pictures..ANY information on it is appreciated.
charlie brown Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 A similar one (only with "dot" inlays in the neck) was sold (Via Guitar Museum web site), for $1132.00 http://search.aol.com/aol/imageDetails?s_it=imageDetails&q=1970%27s+Gibson+SG+with+Mini%3Dhumbuckers&v_t=comsearch&b=image%3Fenabled_terms%3D%26s_it%3Dcomsearch%26q%3D1970%2527s%2BGibson%2BSG%2Bwith%2BMini%253Dhumbuckers%26oreq%3Db008c93fde994ac0b56d2d63bfcafc6c&img=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.guitar-museum.com%2Fuploads%2Fguitar%2F89%2F110275585703-2.jpg&host=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.guitar-museum.com%2Fguitar-28198-1972-GIBSON-SG-STANDARD-W-MINI-HUMBUCKERS-HOT&width=115&height=86&thumbUrl=http%3A%2F%2Ft1.gstatic.com%2Fimages%3Fq%3Dtbn%3AANd9GcRvFQA4ZCA08CLG9mNKio2Q_ib0ITGcuj7GcbCHtptCTOzR16t9BNCHCw&imgWidth=500&imgHeight=375&imgSize=42051&imgTitle=1970%27s+Gibson+SG+with+Mini%3Dhumbuckers If sold in good working order, and "original" spec's, could get that, or a little more? If you want an accurate estimate, contact George Gruhn, at Gruhn Guitars, in Nashville. http://www.gruhn.com/ Demo, of a similar model CB
H3RB4LS Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Thanks for the response. I might try to do that if I plan on selling it sometime.
