Flgatorgirl Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Does anyone know what strings ship on a new Epi electric? I have a Wilshire Phant-o-matic and would like to know the string type and gauge that came on it.
Whitmore Willy Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Don't know for sure but most likely 10-46: http://www2.epiphone.com/images/StringGauges.pdf As to brand...inexpensive production. First thing most do is check the setup and change the strings. Willy
indiekiduk Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Pretty sure my sheraton 1962 came with these brite wires: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002D0EII/ref=pe_175190_21431760_3p_M3T1_SC_dp_1 Because I replaced using them and they feel exactly the same: very nice, light and playable
DavidRamey Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Epiphone guitars comes with Gibson Brite Wire Strings
Dennis G Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I knew that Epi elec's came with 10-46 gauge, but never knew what make/mfgr. The Gibby Brite Wire would make sense given the corporate connection, and I don't believe that Epi makes it "own" string, do they?
indiekiduk Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 They do brand strings but I don't know which manufacturer it is although the packet I saw said made in USA. D'Addario make Gibson's strings so its possible they also make Epiphone's too. However they could be the same or different spec materials. The Gibson strings are definitely different from D'Addario I'd say higher quality materials because they sound brighter and are nicer feeling on the fingers, but could be lower quality in that they don't intonate for as long. Who knows.
