SanDiegoTony Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I bought an ebay guitar, an Epiphone Flamekat which I found out after had a "2ND" stamped on the back of the headstock with a white label serial number on it. I have learned that this was stamped this way due to a factory cosmetic issue or other repair. I know this is probably an older thread which I searched and didn't find any information. I am just asking to find out if this is actually true or could it be some other issues? The guitar is experiencing some body buzz around the bridge area when the upper frets are played around the 12th fret or higher. I am asking mainly to gain help to fix the issues or would it be better as a donation guitar since it doesn't fit with my playing style any longer. Thanks everyone! Tony
Kurt Vonnegut Fan Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 The ones marked as yours are true factory seconds, covered by the Epi warranty against defects adversely affecting playability, if purchased new at an authorized Epi dealer. I own one, and cannot see why it's a 2ND. The buzz may be the bridge retaining spring, a common annoyance.
vomer Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 What KVF said. It should be an OK geet. Even though ebay sellers should make these things clear, I wouldn't worry about it, unless you want to hit the seller for a partial refund. Does the buzz come through when it's plugged in?
