MR GIBS Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Hi there, does anybody know what model(s) acoustic guitar(s) uses David Gilmour in the studio recording of the song "Wish you were here"?
pauloon Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I read he used a Martin D35,but I have seen him play it 'live' with a Gibson J200 and also a Taylor 712 CE.
E-minor7 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Nope, but I do know D.G. owns a slope CW. Think I better re-check this intro - don't recall it as anything special when it comes to acoustic sound. I'm probably wrong. .

Yeah, I have see him too live playing some Gibson J200 (like) guitar and some Taylor, but what I want to know is what Brands and models are the 12 string and 6 string guitars in the studieo record from 1975?
cybercat Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Not sure about the original, but he sounds damn good to me here on this old Guild.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ0nPBRbXLM

MR GIBS Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Guild 12'a are built like tanks, and ring like a bell. Just in the moment I play on my M-R GUILD (a D 55) and I am pretty agree with you
zombywoof Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 A good buddy of mine who is a big Gilmour fan told me once that early on Gilmour stuck with Levin guitars and a Gibson J-45. He then went to Martins (including the D-35 used on the LP) and Ovations. The Gibson I tend to associate Gilmour with though is the the EH-150 lap steel.
MR GIBS Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 http://www.gilmourish.com/?page_id=17 Thanks a lot! The six string is obviously a Martin D35. But it is not clear what is the 12-string instrument...
mike tango Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Here Is Dg with a taylor. If you haven't seen this video it is a real treat.
MR GIBS Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 Here Is Dg with a taylor. If you haven't seen this video it is a real treat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgqL9tN8w2I I have seen this, yes, but what I need is to know what are the instruments in the 1975 studio record. And now I know about the Martin D35. So the 12-string is ... ???
Danner Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Alan Parsons posts over at Gearslutz.com, and he would probably answer your question personally.

MR GIBS Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 Here is what I have found https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGd1eiLKY_8 See from 48:01 There is David Gilmour speaking about the twelve string he recently purchased from a friend... He doesn't mention a name of the instrument... And in the same time in the clip he plays I think on a Martin D28 12 strings... Then he plays the solo on his Martin D35 and this is obviously the same instrument from the 1975 record. So I think that the 12 string instrument he plays on this clip is the same 12 guitar used in the record session in 1975 The 6 string and the 12 string look pretty aged instruments and my conclusion is that both instruments are martins (hearing the sound from the record) What you say?
