nick1976 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Hello, I have a 1956 Gibson ES 225 but it misses the original bridge (trapeze tailpiece). Can you tell me where to find it? As far as this "bridge" is concerned, the reissue of the Gibson ES 295 (Memphis '52) has this tailpiece. Gibson ES 295 '52 Memphis Thank you, Nick
powerwagonjohn Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I have a 1956 ES-225T also and they are very nice guitars. I think the original tailpiece/bridge is an integral part of the sound and playability of these guitars. I think you would find one on E-bay or a parts seller cheaper than you could buy one from Gibson but who knows. A lot of people put Bigsbys on the ES-295 and well as some ES-225Ts. Good luck and enjoy your guitar. Thanks John
zimmer32 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 The ES225/295 tailpieces do come up on Ebay very occasionally. I was lucky enough to find one from a US seller about 3 years ago to replace the stock Bigsby on my 1990 Gib ES295 reissue. The one I found was one of those with the 'Les Paul model' & 'Pat pending' scripting. It completes the look & feel & was easy to fit by my tech. If you can't find one with the feet & thumbwheels, you can easily fashion them using 2 extra thumbwheels either side to make the feet. I think I paid around $200-250 inc shipping to the UK.
slimt Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Seeif you can buy it new? after all Gibson reissued the 1952 les paul.. same tail piece..
