Roy Simmons Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Hi, For almost 30 years I'm the proud owner of a Flying V and I was wondering how many of these types (1984, Nashville) were built. I couldn't find any Flying V pics WITH a fine tuning bridge, is it a rare piece then? Final question: what's todays approx. value of this guitar? serial nr. 80134523 see pic Greetings
GibSinCity Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 The TP-6 is a fairly easy to find aftermarket item at various music retailers. Nice flame on that V by the way. http://store.gibson.com/tp-6-stop-bar-tailpiece/ "A direct retrofit for the original Gibson stopbar, the TP-6 delivers the ability to fine tune any string on your guitar in seconds. Micro-adjustment tuners and carefully crafted gears and saddles allows for smooth string movement and precise tuning ability. This OEM part is available in either Chrome or Gold finish."
capmaster Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Your Flying V has a very beautiful top. Love the finish, too. Don't know if these Vs came stock with the TP-6. I also have never seen a Norlin era figured top V in person up to now. Since none of my stoptail Gibsons featured a TP-6 stock, I replaced the stopbars with them wherever applicable. I use eight of these on various guitar models, all of them chrome-plated.
