j45nick Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 This one is a bit more withheld in its decoration - http://www.ebay.com/...=item27e157e9fa That's a gorgeous guitar, but a couple of things caught my eye: nut is listed as 1 11/16", and the seller never mentions the top shadows from the removed stick-on items.
E-minor7 Posted April 19, 2014 Author Posted April 19, 2014 I tried to reset them and added a 4th - which actually is rather nize. Regarding the J-35 - wouldn't 11/16 have been the norm in the 1930's - 40's ?

retrorod Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 This one is a bit more withheld in its decoration - http://www.ebay.com/...=item27e157e9fa I saw this one also.....I think it is peculiar that he makes no mention of the 'obvious'...deterrent to its 'perfection'! I would have preferred that the decals had been left on....
j45nick Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Regarding the J-35 - wouldn't 11/16 have been the norm in the 1930's - 40's ? Well, I'm not sure there was a norm, as such. My L-OO Legend is an exact copy of a 1937, and has a 1 3/4" (44.5 mm) nut. I have two late-40's (1947 and 1948), one was 1 11/16" (43 mm), and the other 1 23/32 (43.5+ mm)
tpbiii Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 I don't really know what this thread is about -- but that has never stopped me before. Here is my glam -- a trophy wife of 45+ years, Jay Rhyne guitar, with BRW back and sides that were acquired from Mike Longworth. The tree of life is silver. Glam[biggrin]. Let's pick, -Tom
E-minor7 Posted April 19, 2014 Author Posted April 19, 2014 Let's say this thread is about heavily blinged acoustics contra the ghost-deco-ex spooking in post #2. You and your folksy wife is always welcome. You know I dreamt about her recently - and conscientiously reported here. Have to tell you she was married to Nick then. Nice guitar also. . .

That was good for a chuckle! Thanks!
tpbiii Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 When she was married to Nick, did she still have her AJ -- that is her nickname BTW -- AJ with AJ. I'll bet he misses those guitars.

Somehow, the only blinged-out guitar I expected to see in Tom and AJ's collection was the pre-war D-45 I expect him to casually pull out at some point.......

That would be something - Don't recall seeing it in the collection of demo-videos, , , neither with or without Santa headgear. . .
slimt Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 and each one made by Ren Himself.. I remember most of those guitars J has listed.. Played a few of those in the vault at Montana with Ren watching of coarse.. :) I do have the pricelist and desciptions for a few of those as well... Im made sure he got those as well.
E-minor7 Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 Here's another of the heftys - wait a minute, , , is that a neck bended out of shape by the truss rod on the pick-guard. . http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gibson-J-200-Southwest-Sun-Custom-Acoustic-Guitar-SJ-200/181386546781?_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D22466%26meid%3D6362961379929732534%26pid%3D100010%26prg%3D9735%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D24%26sd%3D321384817130
Dave F Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I thought I had enough glam with this but I'm liking those vines on the fret board.
