Hello! New to the forum, and like what I see here. I'm a retired Marine living in Okinawa, Japan. My Gibson stable consists of a 1960 Les Paul Classic Re-Issue, a blackface F5-G mandolin with block inlay fret markers, a Gibson Goldrush mandolin, and as of this week, a 2014 Quilted Maple Hummingbird. Though not a Gibson, I also have a Tokai Made in Japan ES-158, which is a beautiful ES-135 copy. Happy to be here!

Welcome....from the sunny shores of the Outer Banks, NC, USA. Thanks for your service!

A great group of Gibby fanatics here. Once in a while a political rumble....But basically 'strings and things'

By the way, I flew home with it last night from Tokyo to Okinawa. Checking an instrument with All Nippon Airlines (ANA) is painless. They put it in a coffin-type case, strapped inside so it won't move, mark it fragile all over, and treat it like VIP luggage the entire trip.

Wow a true beauty . I am a maple lover and these guitars are just incredible.

Enjoy your bird in good health

Welcome Aboard! More than a few of us here are retired, in one way or another, and have re-charged our earlier loves of acoustics with Gibsons.

I've got a maple SJ200 and a mahogany H'bird. I can imagine yours is 'the best of both worlds. And Thank You For Your Service! Jim

Pictures from inside Guitar Planet of my new Quilted Maple Bird.

Totally nice pictures - I dig those bursts making it to the back'n'sides*. A rare feature that'll be a real hit when mojo sets in. . .

Say hello to your wife - and jam along lightly.

*Is this the case with all quilted Birds ?
