Valeriy Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Hello, guys I've never done anything electronically in on-line. I received a file as doc. and I must do this, but as a matter of fact, I'm confused a little. I see this file electronically, but I cannot edit it , how do it? Someone can be dealt with. Thanks Valeriy
quapman Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Hello Valeriy,, What type of file is it? What is the file extension? (what comes after the . ) Is it a .doc? Are you using a Windows operating system? If you are using Windows and it is a .doc extension you can open it with any word processor. If you have Microsoft Office you can use Word. If you don't have Office by default you will have Notepad and Wordpad. Either will open your file for reading/editing. What is the file name?
quapman Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Feel free to pm me if you have any questions. This can get boring fast.
Valeriy Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 Hello Guapman. Yep, Windows 7 And Word Start 2010 (similar Word Office) and yep, it is a doc. File. And I open it and edit, but I must do in on-line. They speake me: “ Attached is the first draft of the non-provisional application and drawings. We would appreciate you making any changes electronically into the draft and in such a way that allows us to track your changes. You may wish to use the tracking feature in MS Word by going to tools and then track changes.” But I cannot do it electronically (to edit) though I open this file in on-line and I can read it.
quapman Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Do they allow you to download it,,, edit it,, and then upload it? Did you do what they asked? "by going to tools and then track changes" Sounds like an online ticket system or something? When you open and read it online, is there a "tools" and "track changes" option anywhere to be seen?
quapman Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I'm not familiar with "track changes" in MS Word but I found this. I have never used it myself. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/track-changes-while-you-edit-HA001218690.aspx
Valeriy Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 By the way, may be, as online ticket system or something, This is a patent which I am doing now, about an electric guitar . I already have done it. But I do not know how to understand that phrase about electronically. And yep, it may be downloaded and I can upload the file on Google drive. But I suspect that this must be as they speak electronically.

So download it, start "track your changes", do your editing,, then upload it. It looks like "track changes" is a log of the edits you make. But I have never used it myself..
quapman Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Thanks, Quapman  I will study now You're welcome. I hope it helped. It's a new one on me.. I just learned something too.. :)
Valeriy Posted April 27, 2014 Author Posted April 27, 2014 Maybe, sorry, Quapman, you know about these forms as for a declaration and a micro-certification? Here is a text, I received this from the law firm working with patents: “Please be advise, your application has still yet to be filed with the USPTO. If the application is acceptable in its current form, please find the declaration form and micro certification form which need to be signed and dated. Please sign electronically by typing your name between forward slashes, i.e., /John Smith/, in the space provided for your signature, saving the files, and emailing the files back to us as email attachments. Optionally, you may print, hand sign, scan and email back the signed documents Please email back the signed documents for filing with the USPTO. Please send your DRAFT and signed documents to me within 2 days of receiving.” I have sent to the firm my draft, but without the signed documents that I cannot find, i.e. their forms. I found something a similar from Internet, a form as a micro certification for students, but I am not a student. As a matter of fact, I thought that they will send these forms to me. My status (concerning my application for patent) was not clear for the lawyers during almost half a year because Russian laws, it seems, do not coincide with international. And now, after 30 April, my provisional patent ends. Well, I'll look further these forms, but maybe, someone is aware.
quapman Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Maybe, sorry, Quapman, you know about these forms as for a declaration and a micro-certification? I'm sorry Bro but I really don't know anything about that. And I'm no lawyer. But a quick google search did lead me to these links. Maybe ask them specifically what form they want. (title or number) I found a whole host of pdf forms I can download from the USPTO site. Check out these links. http://www.uspto.gov/forms/aia_forms.jsp http://www.uspto.gov/forms/index.jsp Check out the "Inventor's Oath or Declaration" section. Good luck :)
Valeriy Posted April 27, 2014 Author Posted April 27, 2014 Thanks, Quapman. I'm confused a bit with these forms, now I'll look the links, it seems, there is similar that needed for me. And here, this is my guitar which, in fact, is the basis of the said patent. Substantially, here the guitar sounds similar to an acoustic guitar, and only Neck pickup. Now with neck and bridge pickups when together, a sound is even better, and if 3 pickups then it may be very similar to the sound of an acoustic guitar. In usual electric guitar, when all pickups together, often a failure of the middle arises and an acoustic guitar sound does not obtain. We do a song of Elvis. Generally here, a second guitarist plays the only one or two notes :) , my guitar plays mainly . When I finish my paperwork I’ll maybe record something else with this guitar, the sound very natural, beautiful.
