MrNylon Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Sweetwater Sound had a 2014 SG Spl. Chocolate Satin Bass in the Guitar Gallery. Sold! May 1st should be the arrival day. There's just something I like about the looks of the SG Spl. Chocolate Satin, over the SG Std. Maple.
MrNylon Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 That's beautiful Thanks Karloff. There were three to choose from. One other looked about as nice as this one. To me anyway. The one thing that I liked about this one, it has the Grover Shamrock stamped tuners. The other two didn't.
cookieman15061 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Beautiful bass brother but be ready for the negative vibes from some who hate the Anniversary inlay. I have it on my 2014 Firebird and don't even notice it but some find it offensive. We want pics when that satiny chocolate arrives.

I have it on my 2014 Firebird and don't even notice it but some find it offensive. We want pics when that satiny chocolate arrives. Thank you partner. I will post some pics when the Dark Chocolate arrives. I had some negatives about the Anniversary inlay on a previous SG Std. I had. To Each his own. I kinda' like it myself. I like that they chose the 12th fret for it.
darling67 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Nice! If I needed to buy a bass, it would have been that exact one.
MrNylon Posted April 27, 2014 Author Posted April 27, 2014 Nice! If I needed to buy a bass, it would have been that exact one. After thinking about it for about a minute, maybe two, while viewing this SG, on the Sweetwater Guitar Gallery, I snagged it.
MrNylon Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 I checked the Sweetwater Guitar Gallery, one SG Spl. Chocolate Satin left in stock. (ironically my second choice to the one I chose is still there.) The FedEx tracking has started with me checking the tracking information about every 2-3 hours. It's on the road at least.
MrNylon Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 Alright! It showed up today. I didn't get a chance to do much more than restring her, and do a good look-over. The frets a bit rough on the edges of the fretboard, but not the roughest of Gibson's I've had. Now to name her. Hmmmmmm,……...
MrNylon Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 Thanks guys, she has a really great sound. I'm getting to believe the lighter Nitro finish has a bit of a more clear sound, without taking away the pounding from the pups. I named her Mountain Lass, because I love her sound as I was playing the first song on her, Never In My Life. My old friend Felix would've liked it.
MrNylon Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 If you get a chance to try the Faded Nitro finish SG, and compare to the Heritage Nitro finish SG, you may like the Faded SG sound better.
MrNylon Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 I ran the SG Spl. through a Fender Rumble 100 Combo amp today. Very good sounds. The single 12" speaker combo had a good clear solid bass punch to it.
MrNylon Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 Does the neck pup mount right to the body? I'm not sure if it does, or not. I'm not going to open it up to find out, it plays to good to mess with.
Brytam Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 An SG bass is cool in its own right but the finish just sends it to another level! Love those tuners. Congrats...

Thanks, I like the lighter Nitro finishes more now than I did before. Some day I may get another Heritage finished SG, but not for a while.

MrNylon Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 That's just what I was thinking Even if I never play her in the studio, I just love the Mountain, and Cream sounds this Lass put's out. A nice easy bass to do like Felix would say, "Ready, PLAY"
MrNylon Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Beautiful Bass. Love the color. I agree with you too on the color. Just a nice easy on the eyes color, not bright, and shiny looking.
