I have run out of the blood and guts Game of Thrones episodes and was looking at getting the 1st Season Nashville for even more blood and guts, and the odd Gibson/Martin hopefully?

Anyone here to give us a quick review?

Is it total rubbish?

I like it. Little soap opera-ish at times, but the characters and music are good - Buddy Miller is the musical director.

Well there's no blood and guts but there's girls and guitars and lots of good music. I like it, not too sure on the story but that doesn't matter.

I live in Nashville and the word on the street from musicians who are on the show is that it is nothing more than scripted tv, it's not 'real.' Only for entertainment.

While it is scripted TV, there has been some surprisingly good music. I particularly have enjoyed the stripped down acoustic performances. In casting the show, they've gotten actors who can sing, and apparently they do a lot of their own playing, too. It seems to me that they really are trying to show some depth to the whole split between writer and performer, too. My wife and I have watched all of the episodes so far, and she may be an even crisper critic than I am.

And it IS good guitar porn! The two most earnest young male songwriters both play Gibsons, one a CF-100E, the other an LG-2. I suspect strongly those are modern Gibsons that have been relic'ed, as I see orange labels in them ... another main character often plays an Advanced Jumbo, while this season's male love interest for the female protagonist is frequently seen with a big blonde J-200. I've seen Hummingbirds, an Everly Brothers model (in the hands of J.D. Souther portraying Watty Wyatt), at least one 70s Gibson square-shouldered dread, and the odd ES-125. In other studio scenes, a very weathered, well-worn LG-2 was in the hands of an unnamed studio player.

There is a '30s Martin 00-42 given as a gift/bribe/inducement that is a plot device in several episodes. There are several Martin dreadnaughts that appear in people's hands in various songs, but not so many, really. Charles Estin/Deacon Claybourne mostly plays Gretsches, with the occasional Les Paul thrown in. There are a buncha Telecasters in the electric scenes.

Good mindless fun…and since you are asking , B.K.,………..not enough skin!….lol…I'm with some of the others…love the pure acoustic scenes, and when they are working writing new songs. Two of the actors are from Austrailia, so they must know Keith Urban, and have mastered the "country" accent. I think you'd like it!

P.S. Are american shows shown upside down in Australia?

Ho Ho, you guys can be a riot when you get goin'..........

They do show them upside down OWF and that is probably why they don't make any sense. We have special software that Orstraylinizes them and adds the Chinese overdubs we like.

Thanks for the mini reviews, everyone. It is just released on DVD here and I missed the first 27 episodes on live TV, so thought I would start at the beginning, but of course, as OWF pointed out, we need to begin at the end and work backwards......

The show is made by the same gang as the Thrones show and the Sons Of A, isn't it? A couple of bikers and a few swordsman will have nothing against a couple of woman singers from Nashville!

Last call - the DVD shop is calling.....

LOVE it. Obsessed with it. And to be honest - it's what inspired me to learn guitar. It's soap opera-y too, but the music is stellar and the talent on that show is amazing.

Well, they only released the first season, get this, PART ONE....too cheap...only 12 episodes..... I was expecting to get the whole first season and then watch the next ones on pay tv.

Doesn't matter! We started watching and have watched 3 episodes and even the Boss is sucked in already! She looked a bit reluctant when there was mention of guitars/musos.....wonder why?

I wont spoil it for others about to watch it, but must say one of the guitar players is just a ........(first words I typed got censored), isn't he? Intensely loyal, until the other guitar came out! Hmmmm.

Watching "Nashville, On The Record" now on Hulu Plus, the stars of Nashville performing and talking about their favorite music from the show. About a 45 minute deal, filmed at the Ryman Auditorium.

I like it a lot. Most of the actors can actually sing and play. Living in Nashville it has been nice to see it add to the State tax coffers.

10-4 on the SOAP OPERA storyline. Pretty nice music and talent on display...like the guitars!

Kinda "whiney" with some of the storyline...wears thin, but don't all soap operas?

Worth the time if you are a music fan...ENJOY

Well, there is good and bad news....

The Good news is that we really enjoyed the 12 episodes that have been released - the Boss and I have been glued to them since I got them.....

The Bad news....we are hooked and we have finished - it only came with Series One - Part One (1st 12 episodes) and now we can: 1. wait for release of Part 2 ; OR.....2. watch Episode 13, 14, 15, 16 on the iPad to catch up with what is airing on my satellite TV service. I didn't get the Lightning adaptor for my iPad that runs to the TV, so we will literally be sitting watching my iPad together........

Deac needs me!

Nashville update for you...

Broke down and bought the ipad adaptor lightning things to watch the 'catchup' episodes 13, 14, 15 before going to my recently TV recorded episode 16.

Ipad adaptor works fine for YouTube played on to the TV, but the episodes have expired! (Singing 'Tell Me Why I Don't Like M.......' to myself).

All the junk is lying out on the grass, and we watched the Episode 16 I recorded and waiting for Epi 17 tomorrow! Will probably never ever ever see those missing ones and a big Raspberry to the sellers ..."......."..........

Another update for yous! [rolleyes][biggrin] [biggrin]

I got the missing episodes from 2 different sources, the missing episode 13 I bought from iTunes, and 14 and 15 from an online catchup site.

I guess everyone else in the whole wide world has seen all of them, but it still the only show that I have ever seen with so many guitars and guitarists! Kind of like Dallas with musos.....

So as I peck the letters out here on my iPad, I await the next episode to record (tonight).

Ha Ha! Is Deak the luckiest guitar player ever?

PS....real glad I have my beautiful LG3 close to hand after watching that Gunna and his LG2....... [laugh][glare] [glare] [smile] [smile] [smile]

The main guy, the producer and his wife came by my booth at the Nashville guitar show. They were really nice and down to earth. He played this beat but sweet 1954 Gibson J-45 for a few minutes:

Omg-is that Earl's guitar? Did Earl have a near-brush with fame??? How much fun if that one had ended up on the show-?😅

Many thanks to the OP for highlighting this series, which would otherwise have past me by....

I bought the boxed set of seasons 1+2, & last night sat down to watch the pilot. I was so hooked that I ended up watched the 1st 5 episodes back to back! What a great show, I'm loving the music & nice guitars on show & even the plot.
