BluesKing777 Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Woke up and dusted the new 2006 Martin HD28v, played a few tunes...too early....drank tea.... Time to change those strings from the music shop. Badoing Badoing....it goes Ba-----ding. Done. (Gibson MB12s). Played a few tunes from the Jim D-Bo's "Cool Links" thread...... And hit record on my acoustic fingerpicking/vocal version of David Bowie's "Starman" and I broken many rules, but here goes: https://soundcloud.com/bluesking777/starman777a BluesKing777. flatbaroque Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 ha...that was very cool...Starman meets Sweet Lady Jane with that measured picking pattern..The guitar driven crescendo effect wasn't half bad either..Nice sounding guitar that new one
blindboygrunt Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 That was indeed cool. Lol Beautiful guitar that .
j45nick Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Absolutely gorgeous guitar, and it sounds good, too. I've never owned a Martin dread, but I may have to think about changing that.
MorrisrownSal Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Thanks BK. Great tone. I had a "plain Jane" HD28 - but it didnt do it for me. It sounded much more muddy than yours - which sounds smoky, airy, and like it were hog!
BluesKing777 Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 Thanks much for the replies! While the guitar doesn't have the growl of my J45, it has lots of beauty and prettiness in the tone, but it is hard to capture it really, and I knew it would be tricky with a sm57, but hey.... I realise now that the looks of the guitar are like a big version of the Eric Clapton - toner, h'bone trim, tuners etc! And the good and bad news for someone is that I notice Mando Bros has a 2007 model just listed, and way cheaper than they cost here. Highly recommended. BluesKing777.
aerohead Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 You never diappoint BK. Always look forward to your song posts because you always put your own spin on the old classics!
Rambler Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Bowie donesn't move me, particualrly, but that guitar does.
MissouriPicker Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Yep, that was worth listening-to, Bluesking. Don't know if that was the intention, but the atmosphere you put into the song went with the pictures. And the Martin sounded pretty cool. I know there's one out there calling me somewhere. Thanks for the recording. Your music has a very human feel and sound to it. Anybody can play a guitar, but your kind of music makes me want to sit and listen....
BluesKing777 Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 Thanks for those very nice comments! I appreciate it a real lot. BluesKing777.
