TheIntermediate Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 All I can say is WOW. My first Gibson and I've had it for a couple of weeks now. It is THE one. I own Martins, Taylors, Guilds, and some boutique brands as well but this guitar beats them all. Light as a feather, easy to play, headroom for days, yet responsive to a light touch as well. It's the perfect all-arounder do-everything guitar. Flatpicking, fingerstyle, you name it.
62burst Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 That is one of the loudest looking Adirondack tops I've seen in a while. Enjoy.
Red 333 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Love the adi top on yours. Killer burst, too. I'm also really beginning to like the no-pickguard look. It's nice that Gibson ships them this way now, giving you the option whether to install it or not, and where. Red 333

Doug the Old Geezer Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Beautiful Guitar, TI. Have fun breaking it in.

TheIntermediate Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 Congrats!! Nice wide grained adi top. So...will you put the pickguard on ? That's a good question. I kinda like it as is for the time being, but eventually I think I probably will.

michaelnel Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 That is one of the loudest looking Adirondack tops I've seen in a while. Enjoy. What makes an Adirondack top look loud? Don't get me wrong, I love the way this guitar looks, but I don't understand why it looks "loud".

Maybe the wide-grain? Definitely not for everyone. I happen to love it in this instance. Traditionally, tight grain is preferred by most.

I have an Eastman E20D dread that has similar Adirondack top, and it sounds great. It's loud too, but I didn't know if the wide grain contributes to that. Personally, I like the look of the wide grain on yours and mine, just dunno what difference it makes sonically.

Guess 'loud' means significant and standing out - which the guardless and wide grained top definitely does. In my eyes this 45 has a lot of personality for exactly for those 2 reasons. Not sure I would smack a guard on it. It will be very special after fading to a hue or 3 darker/warmer. Congs on the guitar, Mister Intermediate - and welcome.
fortyearspickn Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Like EM7 suggests - Loud means more than audio cranked up to '11". It's like a Ferrari. They look like they are going 100mph even when standing still! Now, the J45TV as moved to #1 on my Gaseous Wish List.
