Jimi D-Bo Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Do you maniacs own...be honest now, we won't judge you here-I promise (seven)
duluthdan Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Seventeen (17) including three that are in other parts of the country. Interesting thing is that I don't play any of them particularly well, the multiplication just sorta crept up on me. Oh wait, Eighteen (18). In my defense though, there are only Five (5) that count.
BigKahune Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 . There's a few big collectors here. Love looking at them when pics get posted. I've got a few: 19. Seven are Gibsons. I haven't sold off any in quite a while, so they're starting to pile up. . B) .
RichG Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Eleven, four Gibsons. EDIT EDIT....Nine now. Sold three, bought one. Rich
wooglins Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Three. I thinned my heard from ten, and am now trying to have one in each size I use. I have 00 (oversized parlor), mini jumbo, and dread covered. Only remaining size is concert or 000, that size is called quite a few different things.
Larry W Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I thinned out and also bought.......... Currently have 8.........down from 15. I sold off some electrics and got some more acoustics after I stopped live gigs back in 2012.
tpbiii Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I don't know -- more than 100 but less than 200. Maybe 60-70 Gibsons -- but some of those are banjos and mandolins.
MorrisrownSal Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Things have changed. I used to have a lot more. Now I have three acoustics: a Martin D15, a Martin 000-18, and my Gibson SJTV. I also have a Mexican Tele, and a Martin S1uke. I could easily get by with just the D15 if I am honest, but I don't want to just get by. I think I am at a nice happy medium. I fear that I have rubbed off on my oldest son, who is a sophomore in college, though. He has 3 acoustics and two electrics. Crap! When I was his aged I gigged in college and I had just a Strat.
bobouz Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Currently 24, with #25 arriving this week. Will have to assess to see if it's a keeper. Oh, and the old Loar-era Gibby mandolin. Lots of others have come & gone.
zombywoof Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I have eleven total (I think) including my homemade square neck 9 string lap guitar (which started out life as a 1920s Regal parlor). Of these one is not playable at all and a few others while in the playable range still need some TLC. Also have a 1940 Strad-O-Lin mandolin, two 1950s Supro lap steels (a single and a double neck) and three fiddles.
EuroAussie Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Seems less than others, but more than I need, which is really probably around 5. Aint selling though.
MR GIBS Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I got 13. Two of them are Gibson acoustics. One other is an acoustic bass - unplayed. Another one is an electric (Epiphone Nighthawk in the attic - unplayed) Tree of them are not at home. I don't count here the guitars that I gave to friends - arround ten, may be some more... And I don't count here the instrument that my luthier builds for me in that moment. Really I don't need them all... But honestly I don't know how to sell a guitar - never did. Oh... Almost forgot the Epiphone Inspired By Texan that I bought for a friend and now is in the hall with a ToneRite on it I see now very clearly that this is a mania and I am a maniac ...
Pittgibson45 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I am down to a very reasonable four. I sold three last summer to fund my J-35. I miss them but love the 35.
BluesKing777 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I will quote JT, who to fend off possible derision by family members, says: 'I don't know!' ....and mine is an ever moving target to play the best I can get my hands on, but I am happy with at least ONE. BluesKing777.
Aster1 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Same answer as I give my wife, "SEVERAL" cuz I haven't looked at my insurance spreadsheet for a while. I'm sure it's over 30 but I don't want to know for certain. If I don't know for sure I can't get into trouble cuz I'm not a lying when she asks. I know I have been out of the market over the winter months. Aster
