NHTom Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 I hope being custom shop and msrp of 1700 for a 1 watt amp that they were made in UK. Saw an anderton's review of it and it sounded pretty good. That's a good price compared to normal. I'd love to grab some of these little 1 watt tube heads Marshall did recently, but I don't record, and while I mostly play at bedroom levels, that's a lot of money for an amp that you can't really play out with. NHTom
NHTom Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 My Laney Cub has a "less than 1 watt" input and it does get very quiet while still having a somewhat decent drive tone. NHTom
deeman Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 I have a 2 watt fender amp and its plenty loud. Similar in volume to my old 15 watt SS practice amp.
Riffster Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 I had a JCM1 and it sounded plenty loud through a Marshal 1965a 4x10. Not loud enough to play with a drummer I would say. Sold it (for a profit) and bought a Marshall SL-5 which I use mainly in the 1w setting.
chewy60 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 800 bucks for a practice amp is a little too rich for my blood....
Drog Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I own one of these and it is fantastic! The perfect recording, practice amp. Wattage is not a good indicator of loudness, this amp certainly is not bedroom friendly in the 1w mode ( you can engage .05w as well). Its louder than you can talk or scream. It is not enough to keep up with a drummer though, if he hits hard. This amp is from the Marshall Custom shop, located in jolly England. Its worth every penny in my book.
surfpup Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I love those little heads! They are actually pretty loud - not drummer loud, but I have used them to play a 500 seat auditorium with our school chorus (not miked either) and I've used them in bars in my little trio. Sonically, though, I think this new one is much like the JTM1H though which I already have. I had the JCM1 head, but sold it. Still planning to acquire the JMP1H at some point though.
