guidave59 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 I have a 1961 es 5, this guitar belonged to Tommy Crook, chet atkins often referred to Tommy as the worlds greatest guitar player. from what I am figuring, the guitar has about 60,000 hours of playing time as Tom played it 6 nights a week for 50 years. You can find it on you tube. It does NOT have the correct tailpiece, it has a 175 tailpiece, really need an ES5 tailpiece. Thanks
goaty76 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 If that was the tailpiece that Tommy Crook had on it when he used the guitar I would keep it as is. A normal vintage guitar having all it's original parts is always a plus but the value in this one as you describe it seems to be the celebrity factor. Altering it would decrease that value. Phil
retrorod Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 That is a good point to consider Sure was hoping to see a picture of the guitar though....
